also with the exhust how can it only be 13hp to crank, it would be at around 14 or 15hp to wheels

and don't underestimate the 2k2 with mods, if only an intake adds 14tq and 10hp, imagine what a Y-pipe will do!!, how much does an intake on the 330i adds to the wheels?

Coming from the V8 market, Im having a hard time dealing with Maxima aftermarket prices...That carbon fiber engine cover looks nice..but I still say, NO BEEMER for me ! I'll take that E55 in Black on Black please !, and throw in the Brabus exhaust...

Dinan mods are quite expensive, but they dont void your factory warranty. E55 is a bad @ss car!! My friend has a CLK55 and that thing is too fast. I hear that the new E55 AMG is gonna have somewhere around 450 hp supercharged and the M5 is gonna have a 500 hp V10!!

The 3-series is actually limited to 128, but is capable of much more...

525i and 530i: 128 mph

540i: 155 mph

All 7 series: 155 mph

All M's are limited to 155 as well...

Straight from the dealership...
Yeah, sorry about that earlier post. I misunderstood what the dealer told me... thanks for pointing it out.

My dad's friend had told me about that at the dealership but I brushed it aside... I think his explination was that the 7 series (w/out sport package) is aimed towards a luxurious ride (such as a Maxima GLE) and gets somewhat floaty about 130, even with its hefty weight... with the sports package its much more stable. I've cruised in my uncles 740il (w/ sport pack.) at 130-135ish, so I was thinking they all could hit 155, sorry

Ahhh, and I've gotta stop my long, boring posts...

actually I raced him before I was even broken in, which was stupid but I didn't even know I was supposed to break it in (but he didn't know how to shift very well then) and raced him several times without my mods, I made a few posts after we raced about it too--the only times I have raced him with mods was a few weeks ago (but I also had heavy 18s, so...) and right after I got my Frankencar intake--he always has been stock though--I haven't been able to get hm to the track, he says if he ends up getting the G35 Coupe he'll run it at the track but I'm not holding my breath

yeah, I've heard those mods make a big difference--he's to scared to buy anything like that though

The dealer was trying to make some extra money on the sport package. The 740iL is very stable at speeds above 100.

You'll see those gains only in combination with Dinan performance engine software.

From the Dinan site - "A Stage 2 version of the Dinan Performance Engine Software is required when installing the systems, ensuring the optimum fuel mixture at higher engine speeds."

No intake will give you 11 bhp by itself.

Architecture NOT an Engineer! Let's go through the basics!!

First off hp is not everything and that is evident by the mere fact that the 330s humble A LOT of cars with more horsepower!! Secondly the bimmer has an in-line 6 which is inherently more efficient at producing usable torque. Third, the bimmers are notorious for their awesome gearing which = better take offs and all around acceleration. You say you've test driven a 330i and still "feel" like your 02 SE auto is faster, well I say it looks like your "butt dyno" needs to be adjusted. You get a 5-speed 330i and a 2k2 auto maxima side by side at 55-60 mph and the bimmer will own you. Once I get mine and you want proof come up to Dallas/Ft. Worth are and I'll demonstrate for you. Later.

Sorry. I work at an architecture firm and one of my best friends there is an absolute BMW fanatic. He owns a 325cI with 17" sport package and whenever he goes in for routine maintenance his BMW dealer gives him a black 330I for the day. I have driven it, and I OWN a 02 SE auto. SORRY. The max is faster. Look it up.

I guess Ive been dreaming on every race Ive had with the "UNTOUCHABLE " 330.. ... Lets say you beat, me.. [Cough Cough].... Try the same against a 2K2 6 speed.. Stock vs Stock, and the Maxis 12K cheaper ! Put that in your "BUTT DYNO" and smoke it !

Did you buy your Maxima for racing purposes? Then you made a wrong choice. Neither Maxima nor 330i were designed for drag racing. Who cares who's faster, they are both nice cars. Better go flame those Acura drivers

I don't think anyone bought their max exclusively for racing purposes, but it is a perfect balance between speed and comfortability (as is the 330)

How long have you had your car now? And you have raced all these 330's Obviously there were no corners either. You would lose unless you are reasonably modded at any speed.

Yes the bimmer is more expensive but it looks better, handles better, better build, better resale etc. etc. etc..

Stock for stock 6spd max vs 330 bimmer. I would put my money on the bimmer in the 1/4 for consistancy. Most people on this board who have 6spds barely break 15's high 14's because they don't know how to drive a fwd. A bimmer is much easier to launch and would be more consistant.

If you race so much maybe you should video tape some of your claims?

...I LIVE in Dallas/Fort Worth. Name the place. I am in North Arlington. I have looked at the numbers, on BMW's own website, and the 0-60 times for a 5-speed 330I are the same as an auto 2002 Max SE. Not to mention the Max has the bulk of its horsepower above 5000 rpms (aka from 55 or a roll, however you wanna say it.) You are only talking too, I haven't seen you bring up any solid numbers except, 'uh, I think the gearing in the 330I is better... What is your basis? I didn't come here to flame, I have presented the facts. But I seem to have a lot of coming my way...

I'll give the 3.5 V6 the go-ahead in straight-line acceleration, the 330i in overall performance.

His basis is being shipped across Atlantica. What kind of numbers and action are you looking for? I don't think they have a 1/4 mile strip on a cargo ship.

yeah, I think the bimmer would take it when the corners come--since when do most people with 6 sp.s barely break 15s? you are either ill-informed or just plain ignorant to all of the 14.4, 14.3 and 14.2s the manuals have been running stock--"looks better" ran outta facts huh? "handles better", yes; "built better", maybe but not by much; "better resale", yes; what kind of car do you drive anyways that makes you feel the need to come to a maxima forum and drop exagerations and ignorant comments

the flat out truth is that a 2k2 max auto or stick (from my experinces) beats (not by much) a 330Ci auto or stick in the 1/4 mile--in saying that, I'm not implying the 330 is a hunk of junk as it destroys the max in other categories--this particular thread is ridiculous and filled with people making guesses and assumptions and quoting numbers without actually racing--I can't believe I even responded to such ignorant statements, it's just hard to resist b/c I can't tell if you're a lurking troll or a standup guy with bad info--have you ever post anything good about the max (sorry if I'm wrong)?

People with 6spds " BARELY " breaking 14's..are you INSANE ? There are guys with Auto's that have broken 14's with just an intake. Are you ignorant, or just here to continue bumping this thread to the top with nonsense remarks. If you are so- PRO - BMW ! Get the hell off this board, go pay for a BMW, and RACE A 2K2 ! Oh as far as re-sale goes, if you pay 12-15K more than me, I sure hope your resale price will be higher too ! Back away from the keyboard , and visit your local Dragstrip.....Stop making a FOOL out of yourself on this thread.

Can someone please list how many people have got 14.6 or less in a "stock" 6spd Maxima vs how many people have them?

I've read a lot of posts of guys hitting 14.7+. Some guys not even getting in the 14's.

I agree the MAX is faster! I'm looking for the opportunity to smoke a BMW 330. I can then add it to my list of kills: Acura TL-S, Honda Accord V6, Toyota Camry SE, Pontiac GrandPrix and soon to be BMW 330i HA HA!

I live in the same area LEFTCOAST lives in, Northern Inland San Diego, there are 330's and TL's... and any kind of performance sedan you can think of all over...So the chances are always there...I guess since not everyone has actually run at a track and gotten an official timeslip, we cant all document what our 1/4 mile times will be.
