Stolen HIDs???

So if your HIDs got stolen in NY you might want to track this guy down:

HID on Ebay

I love how he says he found them in the garage of his new house. Yeah my A$$ he did. Because I just move out and leave my "broken connector" HIDs on the shelf.

Anyone up for a boot party??

Looks like someone needed D2R bulbs.

Definitely stolen! I'm glad I live about as far away from NY as I can get, at least in the US.

I guess he did *find* them..

they've been striped of anything of worth. They are worth about $10 as is. I'm sure someone was throwing away the housing after stealing the ballast and D2Rs.

Wow, I hadn't noticed that the ballasts and bulbs are missing. It seems few people have noticed that since they're still bidding on the item. It's over $150 now.

If he was trying to screw with people, why would he post photos of the back of the lighting fixtures which reflect the missing bulbs and ballast?

To cover his a$$ when the buyer gets the lights and complains that "they don't work." The he can say that it was clearly sold "as is" and he showed closeups of it in the auction listing...

Called an INSURANCE SCAM...

As for the other ebay auction, who cares ? It's ebay w/o proof, you got nothing. You should see the other "items" up for sale, that are OBVIOUSLY STOLEN.

LoL, try all over the USA, you should see the CA stats...LoL, more than LA. TN, port gets hit as well, so don't just assume its NY...its all over the place...Acura TL/CL stats don't look any better...any HID Standard auto is a target. Rumor has it, 01/02 QX4 + 02 Q45 lamps are on the rise. I read about Nissan Stats, since my cousin works for them...

HID locks anyone? any possible way? This shouldn't seem to far off considering someone asked about a tinfoil dashboard.

Where exactly might I find those stats? I'm about to take my car to UT-Knoxville this fall and have heard lots of horror stories about stolen cars, stolen parts, etc..

Well if you need a locking system the best you can get right now is what TimW has. He has some bolt sets he sells for cost to everyone.

Thanks again Tim. Appreciate all your effort.

From Nissan, my cousin Jennifer works there, and we had a talk about those thefts...I think its a scheme from Nissan to make money...can you believe it costs Nissan $45/ pr. on those HID hadlamps~! Charge $450-750/pr @ dealer cost level, and 900-1200 on retail level ?

If Nissan could come up with a different design for the HID you won't have this stolen problem. Since they are easy to inter-change this would it a easy target beside you need to modify the wire to make it work.

Here's the link to the thread for TimW's bolts.

You can't go wrong with these. There only $15 and should certainly deter someone from trying to mess with your lights.

Yeah, Tim's solution is pretty good. Not foolproof, but then again, nothing is. Right now I'm vacationing down San Antonio way; nothing has happened to mine (so far) and I'm hoping that the bolts aren't put to the test. But, believe me, I'm keeping my fingers crossed (and heat at the ready).
