Shaved my KEESTER today !

Thanks to Cwally, and Maximadave for suggesting it. I let my car sit in the roasting So Cal sun for about 1 hour, after hooking up with Dave, and I went to work with the dental floss. Took about 30 minutes. No need for GOOO GONE either. It came off easily. I should have done this a long time ago. I waxed the rear after I was done, and it look NICE ! .. I will post Pictures tomorrow !

did you take off everything, or just the "MAXIMA" and "SE" emblems?

30 minutes?? Where you taking Beer breaks or what. It only took me no more than 10 minute to shave my @ss. I used a hair dryer and it came off quick. Then a lil gasoline to remove the left over adhesive and it was all done.

I had a few while I was doing it. But I used dental floss. It kept snapping so I had to pull another piece. Besides, my neighbors are enfatuated with my Max. Everytime I do anything to it, they come out and ask, " What Ya doin now !?"....

If you ever do it again for someone....Use fishing wire. Thats what I used and it was off easily.

I know what you mean about the neighbors. Last month when I was installing my FSTB at 10 pm, a couple of people stopped by and asked me the same stuff.

Gasoline is the worst to use on paint. It eats away the clear coat. Shouldve used like a goo gone or something.

problem

I took off my SE a few weeks ago and if you look closely, there are tiny scratches where I scrubbed off the adhesive; can this be fixed or should I put the SE back on?

What about some kind of plug for the screw holes after removing the Nissan emblem... if painted to match, how would that look? Just might have to experiment.

question guys, dont flame, but what's the point in taking them off? from my own observations, ive only seen civics and saturns and neons debadged. some of you in this thread are anti-rice zealots, i am curious why you would do this "mod?"

in my humble opinion... it is RICE!

I don't like stickers and badges on my car. I know its a maxima, everyone else knows it is a maxima. I dont need a shiny plastic sticker on the back of my car anouncing it.

NOW, if I went and put a Japanese symbol on the back of my car that was supposed to say "maxima" on my car then I would call that Rice. What cracks me up is these doods have no clue what those stickers say. It prolly says "*******s" or something.

I did not consider debadging a "mod" thats why I never listed it or talked about it, I only posted here because of the humorous chat.

But now that you say that I am going to run back to the dealer and get my sticky plastic parts put back on my car.

I think debadging the car gives a more custom look. To me its like shaving the door handles on some cars. Different, but subtle.

I noted when I was in Belgium that most BMWs did not have any badges or emblems on them except the company logo. They looked nice and clean. So not just ricers do it.

By custom look, I mean hmmm... Basically made to my exact taste. Different. Almost made to order.... I guess to my exact specifications. But this is one of those topics we could go around and around. A huge wing, stickers, and neons are custom by definition, but at the same time, for many people falls into the def. of rice. But it still is custom. I personally like different but subtle.

The car has style, not even close to looking like a ricer. I dont see big stickers all over the car. Looks clean to me.

Everything you mentioned IS RICE ! I guess since we live in a part of the country , where you bump into a classy ride, very oftenly. we know what it is. Many Audi's and BMW's and Benzes, are debadged. The dealers even offer to do it, before you receive your Mercedes at a local SD dealer. I guess all those S500's are Riced aout, and GHETTO with they're 19's.... If you ever saw and sat in Cwally's car, that last thing that would cross your mind would be RICE ! .. ask any So Cal Org member who has met him.

I agree with you %100 about my car not being rice They offered to do it on our S class when we bought it.

Like gunmax said, cars like that have style. But you know, you can't please everyone. If that were that case we would all have stock cars. I think I am going to buy a huge sticker that goes across my car saying RICE.
