Lucked out today
So, I'm driving home this afternoon from my jazz brunch gig and notice chunks of truck tires on the road. They're kinda hard to see with all the leaves blowing around.
Anyway, I'm moving along nicely with "Tower of Power" playing on the JUST ADEQUATE Bose system (IMO,) see something kick up from the opposing lane and hear a big "CLUNK" from the left rear. Assuming I had run over a chunk of truck tire, I just kept on my way.
Got home and inspected the left rear wheel well, wheel/tire and then the whole lower left side of the car. NOTHING.
Unload the equipment from the trunk, go over the exterior with the CA Dust Brush and when I get to the UPPER section behind the left rear window, see a 10" black "skid mark" on the paint.
MY HEART SANK. I've only had the Max for 16 days/650 miles.
I look closely at the mark and see that the paint doesn't look scratched or chipped and there's no dent. Next, I wet a paper towel and wipe lightly to remove any dirt (doesn't do a thing to the skid mark) and then apply some "Nu Finish" to a soft cloth and go to work gently on the mark.
THE MARK COMES OFF WITH HARDLY ANY EFFORT AND THERE'S NO PERMANENT MARRING OF THE PAINT! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT.
I have to remember this when I get the first stone chip on the hood or windshield. Maybe I won't be so pi$$ed off.
Sometimes you DO luck out.
