jsmithsole,

Another DEI product. It's got to be good if it's on the cover of TIME magazine.

Did you have it installed yet? Just wondering what they used to connect the wires under the dash?

The 2 way feature must be nice!

Yeah, I'm stoked with the product and the two-way/remote start is nice, not sure what they used under the dash as far as connections as I wasn't there for the install. What exactly we're you wondering? I have to go back and see them becuase they broke my door handle cover on the install (jerks). I can ask them if you have any specific questions....

Look under the dash. When I looked under the dash on mine the control box and the relay box were hanging by the wiring and the wires were taped up with black tape. I expected solid wire connectors.

Mine is going back next week to get the Valet switch and other issues fixed up. The starter works really well though. The range is definately farther than the last starter I had in my '98 Max 5pd.

Just wondering what other shops use to make the connections?

Automate is in fact a DEI brand, but sold ONLY through dealerships. Hence the reason for not seeing the actual products. It is very simliar to the Valet line, but again is exclusive for dealerships.

Other shops tend to use T-taps. I as well use this method for the past 16+yrs and no problems. Some do prefer solder, but it is time consuming and you can get bad solder joints,etc.. Actually the strip, split, tape method is also very common. When going to school they will actually teach you it is ultimately the best connection, I tend to disagree as do most, but they still teach it.

Pearl96max, thanks for your comments. They made me much more confident.

The owner came over to my house and gave me the valet switch and LED. He also fixed up the programming and found that the other installer (he said he let that guy go) didn't hook up the starter wire properly to dissallow the starter to engage when the engine is running and you turn the key. (Starter Grind circuit)

Also the doors lock and unlock when the ignition key is turned on and off.

Woo Hoo. I'm finally complete on my delivery issues for my car, and I can now program the starter myself.

We also looked at the switch that controls the folding mirrors. It looks pretty simple to make the system fold the mirrors when the car is turned off and unfold when the car is turned on. Everything else moves, why not the mirrors??

He suggested that I buy a pulse timer to do the work. I think I'll give it a try sometime.

I have a CompuStar 2WFMS in my 350Z. It's the only Remote Starter/Alarm combo certified for manual vehicles. Goto to www.compustar.org for more info.
