Want to de-badge my Maxima..

What's the best way to yank off the emblems?

Also, mine came with some tacky pin striping on it. Can you just peel this stuff off or do you have to worry about paint damage or color difference?

Here is an article and google thread I found. PS - I'm just offering the links - I don't know if this is the best method, but they seem to be in agreement. Good luck & let us know how it works if you do it...

Really? I didn't know pin striping was an option. It's 1978 all over again!

Yes, that is a good link (http://e46fanatics.com/howto/howtodetail.php?howto_id=1 ). Also, one thing I discovered is that WD40 is unbelievable at removing glue residue.

So, then is this a safe and easy approach? Also, I wonder if / how much de-badging affects resale value?

Yes, it is definitely safe. I haven't debadged the Maxima but I did debadge my old Audi A4. No problem and looked very nice and clean.
If you do use WD40 to remove the glue residue, make sure to wash the area and put some wax on it.

That is probably the best method. I used a credit card on a hot day to get each letter started and then they peeled right off no problem. There was a bit of sticky residue but a little bit of goo-gone and it was clean. I would definitely use floss though, I was just lazy and impatient...

i'd rather use fishing line instead of floss, but whatever works!

Pin striping is a dealer add-on.

It has been my experience that most pin stripes can be peeled off by hand. Just do not scratch anything as you are getting your fingernail under the end of the stripe in order to begin slowly peeling. They were applied on top of the clearcoat, and normally leave little or no residue.

Lightonthehill is bang on again (he's pretty smart for an older guy) ..... I just took the black pinstripe off of mine about 10 minutes ago. The pinstripe on the side of the car that was in the sun came off very easily and left very little residue (almost no residue).

The pinstripe on the side that was in the shade was difficult to pull off and kept breaking. Until i warmed that side up too....and awwwaaayyyy we goooo !

SilverBelle looks a lot better without it !

WD-40 also works wonders after a long road trip to remove bgs from your grill and front bumper
