My ex complained about the 5.5 when she got it, but I just got my 6 and it is wonderful. But I am comparing it to the Ram 1500 extended cab, long bed I just stopped driving. The maxima feels like it can turn on rails compared to that hulk.

I don't know what the turning radious of a Suburban is; but on a u-turn, it is a lot tighter than the Max. Outside of my bank, when I drive the Suburban it has room to spare, but the Max would barely makes it.

The only Max's that need to be doing U turns are those of us without Navi or a good book of maps. I don't mind making gangster turns to get into parking spaces or taking a tight right. Those other pieces of crap on the road get out of my way when I flash the HID high beams at them to let them know that I intend to make my turn and they better wait while the Max takes as much time as he needs to get the job done.

The wide turning radius does annoy me at times (but so does my wife), and I kept her, f%uck it and move forward, she's more fun than bad overall. The car is...

Mack Trucks with trailers in tow make better turns then the max ......i think steering is a bit unresponsive in general but i love to hold on tight and floor the gas..

See I've found the steering to be very responsive on the max... This compaired to TSX and 06 Avalon (both in the running before the max won). Just the best drivers car there was... If you wanted comfort and luxury then the avalon was a better car. If you wanted gas mileage then go for the tsx... If you wanted a drivers car there was no choice...

I agree, i tend to do this as well before making a u-turn..

Well after driving pickups from 96 till I got my 04 max this Sept. making u-turns and parking now is joke. Try parking a vehicle with a 40 + turning radius and view about 5.5 feet above the gound. You better know the size of you vehicle.

I have no problem with turning radius, but then again, my previous car was a 64 Mercury full size! (still have it). All kidding aside, I don't find the turning radius too bad. My wife's Altima is about the same too. What bugs me more, is the rear visibility when parking (both Altima and Maxima).

It wasn't so much the turning radius as much as it was f*ing long. It would take 3 maneuvers to get into a parking space unless I could find two next to each other. I have no problems at all parking my Max. The truck feels like it has pillows on the wheels compared to the Max. I don't know that I will ever drive it again.

Going from a 4th gen to my 6th gen, there are many things that i have had to adjust to. Weight, gas tank (along with the soaring prices), mileage, handling, the list goes on and on...

Some times i think i should have kept my 96' 4th gen...

My neighbor told me recently he is getting rid of his 6th gen only because of the wide turning radius. He is retired and golfs a lot with his buddies. He said he is embarrased by the wide turning radius - has a heck of a time getting into spots at the golf course, back and forth, back and forth - all the while his buddies making snide remarks like "what is wrong with your car pal?"..

LOL....

the answer to all your concerns ^^^

the Max was intentionally designed so you have a reason to show off and do e-brake slide/turns.

That is a dumb reason to give up the Max. Also he does not know how to park.

Can you post some pics? I know what the rims look like but opted against them when I bought my car. I have yet to see a 6th Gen with the factory chromes.

Ya, I had an 03' Altima 3.5V6 and it had just as bad turning radius as our 04 Maxima SE. Nissan didn't put much into the turning radius of the maxi's and altimas... although the infiniti's have excellent turning radius but of course that is a RWD car... but back in the day it was the opposite.. front wheel drive cars had the best turning radius and rear wheel drive had the worst... now it seems like a flip when you compare the maxima, Altima to others.

I need to get actual pics of our car, but here's a twin:

Although my wallet is not going to like keeping tires on them, I really like the appearance of the factory chrome wheels. They add a subtly aggressive look to the car without screaming BLING!.
