Thanks a lot - That looks like the same idea but it was a different brand... hmmm... That should do the trick but does anyone know the other brand that does it?

Here's a pic of the Kenwood touch-screen in my '04. The nav disc stays permanently in the trunk, so it can navigate while playing MP3's, DVD's etc. simultaneously.

It's pretty straight, but remember the dash isn't flat, it's contoured, so the horizontal edges don't sit flush with the center of the screen. The stereo guys did the original cutting of the factory bezel, but they did a hack-job of the cutting. The custom body shop was able to straighten the lines and bondo the two big button holes that were there when the factory (6-disc changer) head unit was removed. But in order to straighten the lines they had to cut more off the sides, leaving more gap than desirable. I'll probably buy another factory bezel and start from scratch and get much better tolerances, but in the meantime I think this'll do.

Anybody think painting the gauge cluster radiant ember would be too ricey?

Thanks... It was about $3K, parts and labor at AMS Car Stereo in Santa Clara. Bondo and painting of the (original factory) bezel was $200 at Creative Kustoms in San Jose. The shop owners are cousins, so it kinda streamlined the whole process (aside from the trash-talking that cousins do).

Thanks. I should also mention that the installation cost included maintaining the use of the controls of the steering wheel buttons, which was about an extra $100. That's what that little receiver is to the left of the deck (little black circle).

yep, that would finish it off. and mentioned already above.. if he does that he might as well paint the gauge trim and top it off.. I think it would look nice..

I'm kinda hesitant on going all out with the radiant ember accents, but it's like the body shop owner told me, "You ever met anyone with just one tattoo? Same principle!" We'll see.... First thing I want to do is paint those ugly polished metal strips running across the roof black. They're kinda of an eye-sore.

Yup I got the harness already actually. I am a little hesitant to install the unit myself, I will install a deck in anyones car but I like to be able to go and yell at someone if it dont work lol.. I went to a local shop yesterday but they were not to confidence building, sounded like he would have to do a little playing arround to get it to work - not looking for someone to figure out how to do it, I would pay someone who KNOWS how to do it. Sheshhh.... Anyone wana make some cha ching?$ lol...

Do your stock controlls above your heat controlls work?

Nope. They're there to keep the hole filled. But my steering wheel buttons do. Access to the climate control buttons aren't blocked by my screen either.

You'll want to PM a guy named Pearl96Max. Don is an authorized Eclipse dealer and will help you far more than anyone here could. He is usually on in the Audio section. Have fun with the N1!

Would you recommend an amature like myself install an aftermarket navi.? I would like to do this work myself to avoid cost. I already have the avic unit and the appropriate harness. I would like to get the pac adaptor to keep the steeringwheel controls but who knows how hard that will be to configure. People were telling me they wanted 500+ for install and relocating the led screen to the bottom. Honestly how hard do you guys tihnk it could be???????/
