Project Grille

The plan:

-Change stock grille from chrome to black
-Change grille from black to Majestic Blue
-If none of them look good, ill get the billet

With some freetime, a lighter, scissors, razor blade, and black adhesive paper.... i finished a quick prototype of the first phase.

Its not a perfect job but I just wanted to see what it would like in black.

Im taking it to the dealer to get it painted M. Blue after i get some of your feedback on the black.

Let me know.

I think you should base your decision on what you like... I would keep in mind if your going to change wheels or not and what style also. My.02

Adhesive paper doesnt do well round corners and bends. Heating it makes it more elastic and gets rid of creases and some bubbles.

So do you like the black look? hate it? could live with it?

I agree with Pal. Body color all the way. Someone on here and on cardomain has a M blue max with body colored grill. Very nice. Personally, I think the stock grill is fugly and should be replaced. But, in a pinch, body color is a good alternative.

make sure they add a lot of flex agent and you give it time to cure.

the all-black grill makes it look more like the new Altima grill. GREAT... with the Altima looking more and more like the Max, we dont want to make the Max look any closer to an Altima.

Hold down ALT, then type the number combination using the keypad. That's like charmap 101 though... hopefully we won't get too off topic

Finding the funky symbols is easy... start --> run --> charmap.exe -- it tells you the combination to use for each character or you can just copy/paste.

The black and the blue look better than the stock grill, but I like the billet overall. Gives the Maxima a classy, upscale look.

Speaking of billet grills. What's the best, cheapest source for grills?

You'd think buying a billet grill insert would be easy....

Price range: $40 - $200 depending on seller.. they all look the same to me...

not sure .. a cheaper one said it attached w/ nylon straps (zip ties, i'm guessing) while the expensive one said it bolted over your grille.

are these things just grille 'covers' ..and not real grille replacements?

im gonna go with the two peice billet... but there seems to be 2 types..

1: covers the original grill with strapons
2: you have to cut out the orignial grille and insert the billets

anyone have experience in either one?

Nismo, no places around me have it either, so I bought my mesh grille from driverfx.com ... the powdercoating is another story though
