Doubt it... probably somebody imported it. C&D is crap for spying stuff. If anybody would know, it's the guys at autospies or autoblog.

The autospies guys had a real picture of the 6th gen back in 2002.

Isn't that rust over the right front wheel? My guess would be that someone lived overseas and when they moved back to the states, they had their car shipped back too, as long as it meets US safety/EPA specs. Maybe the guy is/was in the military?

I saw one of this heading north on the 405 in Costa Mesa - around 15 miles south of Torrance (Nissan headquarter). It had a Mexican plate and left-hand drive. It was about 2 months ago. At the time I thought some weird Max in my rearview mirror (family resemblance) but after looking at the tail I thought it's just a non-us Max. Well, I think our Max is a lot better looking. This one looks just like the Avalon: too conservative. It's like Nissan wouldn't want to dress it up to interfere with their Infinities.

BadBlackMaxSL - Yes, that does look like rust at the top of the front wheel well. The car also seems to be debadged. I somehow get the feeling this car may be several years old.

viguera - yes, I remember the high excitement of seeing pics on the net of the 6th gen being driven on a California freeway in November of 2002. And it definitely was not posted by Car & Driver, either. Like you, I don't see this as a version of the Maxima we will have here.

This Teana is sort of 'catchy' when first viewed. I think that's because as soon as we see it, we know we are looking at something 'different'. But after studying it a few minutes, I think I like the style of our stateside version better.

The current Teanna has the same wheel base, and engine output as 3.5 Altima; but a whole lot much much nicer interior, similar to the M-series. It's true that Nissan is planning a full-size sedan, which could be the 7th gen Max. The writer is only speculating, besides that car has Michigan manufacturer's blue plate. It could have a different powerplant in testing though.

hmm............

What pisses me of is the fact that the 300M got a better review then the Maxima, I had that as a rental for 4 days and thought I was going to shoot my self. 300M fookin junker!

Teana looks like crap also. Rather have a dog fart in my face then drive that tin box.

Well DCX is a much bigger advertising customer than Nissan, so they (and the others) tend to get alot of good reviews just because. When a small (but mighty) company like Nissan gets good reviews its because thier products are actually good!

tons of times cars like this will be near detroit and socal since that's where the company headquarters are.. they're likely random semi-prototype models that are being driven by engineers, testers, etc etc for Nissan.

whether it will ever make it to production in the US is totally different thing than seeing a random spy shot like this.

cool to see, but they don't really mean squat in the grand scheme of things.

According to this website, it could be a 2003 Nissan Teana. I'm not sure in which countries it is sold. Looks like viguera may be right.

Looks like a cross between a Camry and a Maxima. Yuck!

And I really, really hate that black bathtub ring around the bottom, as well as that little floppy antenna sticking up out of the rear part of the roof. (Speaking of which ... since antennas can very effectively be hidden in the back glass, why does any mfr. drill a hole in the roof or fender and stick a rod on it? Geez, that's tacky.)

I can already see the posts if the 7th gen ends up looking like that... can you imagine?

People are having a fit now over how "ugly" the 6th gen is. Goes to show you it could be much, much worse...

antennas

Speaking of that, does anyone know if I can buy a sharkfin Sirius satellite antenna? I hate the stupid looking pods (the only reason im not gettin sat radio yet). Windshield mount ones I hear suck.

Back to the Teana. Looks like Nissan.jp engineers hit that Bushido Crack (薮のひび) Again and stole Toyotas engineering schematics.

遅延!!!!

Peace,

Kam

If anything, I think the bulky fin ones are much, much uglier than the "pods". I got the Terk one that ships with the XMDirect unit, and mounted on the rear shelf the reception is excellent.

It's tiny too, so between the fact that it's on the shelf and the rear window tint, it's almost 100% stealth.

rear window pod

might be but i have two issues with that.

1) metalic window tint
2) live in canada, satellite reception is designed for US market - line of sight to bird highly affected.

no xm for Kammy

I saw two of these cars with white color about 2 weeks ago driving together around Phoenix. They had Michigan manufacture license plates.
