Bose problem.

I know it applies to a few of us but Im wondering if it is for a majority of us. Ive got the 6 disc Bose stereo. The problem is early in the morning when its "extra" cold the cd player skips. It skips to a point where I cant even listen to 2 seconds of a song. It started last winter and went away during the summer. Now winters back and so is the problem.
The next problem is my front speakers keep cutting in and out. They only cut out when playing a cd. When the regular radio is on, they work fine. At first the left front speakers cut out maybe once or twice a day. Thought it might just be a loose wire. I brushed it off because it didnt bother me much. Well its been about 2 months now. Last week, both left and right front speakers were cutting in and out like crazy. Yesterday, they both didnt even work at all. Now its annoying! I brought it into the dealership today, theyre ordering me a new cd player. Just wondering if anybody has had theirs replaced and if it worked fine after that.

well I remember it happened to me once last winter when my CD player skipped, but that was it. it never happened again. maybe it does have something to do with the temperature.

The Bose systems can be notorious for the types of problems you're mentioning. My '02 had the same issues and my '05 had the problem with playing CDs when it's really cold. If I remember correctly, it did clear up last winter. I'm waiting to see if it starts again this winter. If they do not replace it with a rebuilt unit, you should be okay.

I have an 04. Last year I brought it in to dealership and they ordered up and installed a new head unit. Said it's a known problem with some when it gets cold. Worked Great the rest of the last winter. It would only skip when it got below 40F. On the next cold morning try out a cd that you left in the house. I know when mine skipped if you would eject the disk it would be all fogged up.

OK so far

I haven't experienced the CD changer or speaker problems you describe. I note that you hail from Virginia Beach. I would speculate that the winters here in Illinois are colder than in VA, and so far my CD changer has worked fine. I hope that switching out our CD player takes care of the problem.

My Max normally lives in a garage where the temp is rarely below about 40 degrees F, and never below 33.

I had it happen just once last winter when it was below zero and I was visiting in the Chicago area (and parking outside). It took until the car warmed up before it would properly play CDs. Hope the new player fixes your problem.

Its widespread, I had mine fixed when the car had under 10k on it. It was anytime it was under 50 degrees inside the car. Bose made a bunch of defective CD changers apparently, If you are past the 3/36k warrenty unfortunately its probobly a $1000 fix at a dealer with the crazy prices for this stuff. When they replaced my cd changer I had no problems at all after that at any temp. WHats weird is I dont remember it happening the first winter I had the car, it was something that occured after I put some miles on the car and the next winter it happened.

You know, ever since I got an IPOD car adapter I never use the CD player. I like the option of a few thousand different songs at my fingertips.

Had the exact same problems with my 02 Max. They ordered a new unit and it never skipped again. I haven't had my 04 in the really cold weather temps yet, I hope its not a repeat performance of my 02. Does Bose make a sucky unit?

I don't know about the 6th Gens but the "Bose" head unit in my '02 was actually made by Clarion. Some people swear by their products but I've never had good experiences with Clarion head units.

Left channel cutting in/out

BLAXIMA2K4:

I've been having the exact same problem that you've described. My left channel (front and back) will intermittently cut in and out while playing a CD. If I use a tape or the radio, it works fine. I haven't had any issues with skipping in cold weather, but then again it hasn't been too cold yet. I'm outside the warranty... does anybody know how I can resolve the left channel problem without purchasing a new CD player? If not, do I have to change the entire stereo system or just the 6 disc CD changer?

Cd.

I know why your Cd's have been skipping in the winter... I bet its been happening as soon as u turn ur car on... This is because ur cd's get a little "foggy" from condensation... just eject the cd wipe it down and ull b fine.

I have a similar problem...My 6-Disc Bose tends to tell me that I have a "check disc" problem, I think it has some waht to do w/ Temperature and just an overall Defect...

Im not sure but I think the only way to fix that is to get a new cd player. This was actually one of the problems that happened to me. This actually happened to me TWICE. Mine was replaced two times before my manufactor warranty ran out. But after the second replacement there wasn't any problems. Only think my subs blew now. I Can't do anything about that at the moment.

Skipping CDs

I've been having the problem, too. It's November in Philadelphia, and I'm having the skipping problem again more and more. It was really bad last winter, but the dealer couldn't reproduce it (probably waited until the car warmed up). I've got 40,000 miles on it. Think I can get it replaced?

Not a chance. When they replaced one of my front struts with 32k on my car I asked them why they didn't go ahead and change the other one since they knew it was a bad design and was pretty much guarenteed to fail. All I got was a dumb blank look because they were just waiting for the warrenty to expire. Nissan service sucks, I've had to go in twice for a couple of problems and call up customer service in California in order to get work done properly. That's why I'll go with an Infiniti next time. I've heard from many people that its much better.
