wait so, with ecu upgrade and in automatic, then it will still redline at the normal rpm of stock? and the only time that u can take advantage of the higher rev limit is when u go into manual mode? sry im just gettin a little confused, lol

the reason why you have to put it in manual is cause from factory the car is designed to save fuel, so it shifts way sooner than you would like.

on manual you can pretty much control it yourself, so by that said you can take it to a higher level with it..

you imagine driving normally at 5k all the time stuck on 3rd gear, you will waste fuel like crazy, on auto you stay low on rpms so you don't do that.

look at it like our secret weapon, manual brings out the monster in this thing, but you don't wanna keep it on there..

I got it back fellas, but I'm on my 22's to give it a good try, even with my rims I feel good pulls and throttle responce, but that means nothing without the dyno..

so I will keep ya'll updated on that..

I got the call from TS and Im going to drop by tomorrow and swap ECUs so they can ship mine off to Japan. Im curious how my car will respond to the ECU and, of course, how it will respond to the re-programmed ECU. Ill keep u posted.

You might be able to use 5.5 gen flash! Do you have TCS or VDC? Check your ECU code, the 2 big letters.

Ok guys, I just got back from Technosqaure. I met Tadashi, who seems like a nice freindly guy. He took my car for a couple of hours and when he emerged he told me that my ECU would be back from Japan in about 2 weeks or so. I asked what ECU he put and he said it was a prototype 350Z. It seems to give the car a LOT more low end power. It pulls almost from idle!! Its pretty amazing. Also the throttle response is much better. Torque steer is pretty significant now. Im not complaining. I loved the drive home (except for the traffic). Im really looking forward to getting mine back to see the difference.

Yeah Tek, you're right!! By the way, first gear at full throttle is almost useless now. Just spins the tires, even with traction control. This tihng wakes up the car, and its not even the right one. Cant wait til mine gets back!!! Yeeehaaa!!!

I'll call him tomorow and see if he can get me in there on Wed. I'd be stoked for you guys to come down. When we all get them finished we need to do a dyno day somewhere...

Ask if the 5.5 gen spec will work for you w/ minor tweak. We can go to La Habra where I did mine. There are a few more places further south too, I think.

Something about different hardware and firmware versions, not fully compatible, can't flashed. He may get CEL w/ the Z ECU. I didn't get CEL w/ G35, but trany shifts slower when pushed. We will get the same mapping and timing as this ECU.

Cool, what about the VTC though? I recall someone saying that its what is causing the wonderful low end tq from the Z ecu.

Yeah, we have dual-stage manifold, they have single. That's what Deus was talking about where power kicks in at lower RPM. Plus more aggressive timing.

Ok, this thread has got me really excited. My car is an 04 SE 5AT without VDC... of those who have sent their ECUs in, do any of you have this configuration? If not, would they need a donor car to get this done? How can I check the 2 digit version of the ECU?

Thanks!
