I'll ask when I see him, hopefully next week. Check your ECU and get the model and series numbers; 6 hyphenated numbers and letters, and 2 big letters.

Oy Oy Oy

So the price for the ECU is that for a new one or just ours reprogrammed.

Thanks,

I have a 5AT w/TCS and i dont think i have VDC though... how can you tell? prob not... i guess i will need a stand by ECU if i am to do this>?? .....just read the whole post again, and i am stoked about this.. i can see why we have the dual stage instead of single like the G-35 and the Z... Our cars where built for fuel savings, instead like on the sportier other VQ's... Sounds like a really nice mod.... cant wait till you get eh stats Tek!!! Sweet..

The VDC button is between the heated seat buttons.

If yours is compatible w/ mine, you'll be out of a car for 2-3 BUSINESS days, provided you use overnight service both ways.

Where's Tek w/ the dyno?

im just curious, i really dont know to much about this into detail like some of you do so dont laugh lol, but if the Z ecu is working for our cars...why not just keep that in, whats the benifit of actually having ours reprogrammed?

From what others have told me, the VTC and ignition maps on the Z are better than ours but the a/f usually runs pretty lean.

Maybe Ill get better gas mileage? I undertsand that the car runs very rich at high rpm and the throttle closes some. I think the reprogramming keeps throttle open and leans out the mixture at high rpms.

Is the 6 speed ecu gonna be done soon? Also someone mentioned about 6 speed with and w/o traction control and I was wondering if it even mattered if you have it? I assume they can program it if you have it or not.

Sounds good, do you know anything about the traction control I was talking about? I dont have it on my car and I completely forgot it was even an option for the 6 speeds.

It may be a different ECU. He asked me if i had it and i said I did. U may have to wait til a 6 speed with traction control is programmed. Call them tomorrow and ask.

They run lean because the Z33 ECU controls the larger 335cc injectors. A33B and A34 injectors are 315cc.

You would want to get your ECU reflashed vs. just running the Z33 ECU for that reason, and so you get an extended rev limiter and the fixes for the throttle control. OE programs for DBW systems don't give you 100% control of the TB. They're most often limited at low vehicle speeds and near the redline.

Ok, does reprogramming get tid of the annoying 'lag' when first pressing on the gas? I really hate this behavior (as others have noted as well); apparently it was designed to make the car feel 'faster'.

Thanks. This is really interesting - I can't wait to see the new dyno.

well, Tadashi did a great job with my A/F, now is perfectly straight or close to it, but still runing lean cause he didn't run me at 12.8 wich is best vs the 13.8 I have now..

if we can run 12.8 all day, we can get maximum hp out of the ecu... I don't like the graph since I lost power cause of it, but I'll show you the update..

You WILL lose power if you have your A/F moved down to 12.8 vs. what you have now. What you have now is about maximum power.

I usually tune my car, and other Maximas, to about 13.5 - 14.0.

damn, cause I lost some hp on those runs vs last time, if this is maximum is only a 9hp and 9tq gain, wich ain't worth the money for members going to buy it straight out...

once i put headers and a cattback, it will get leaner and it will be worse than that... I don't wanna loose anymore power with bolts ons later on..

Well I tried to explain that to everyone earlier, we don't gain much of anything from software upgrades unless it involves correct A/F tuning. But I have always thought that the Z33 base map would be the best starting point.

You also need to do something about that torque converter locking up on the dyno. That torque spike is skewing your results.

Can you send me all your run files?

vqtech@gmail.com

From what I can tell you've only lost 2 peak hp, and that doesn't really say anything vs. your previous run.

Most of these runs are pretty much the same. Run #9 is probably your best overall. But the A/F does need to be as flat as possible.

For most people I suggest getting essentually a Z33 L-Spec map but with the A33B/A34 fuel maps to run our smaller injectors.

Then get a VAFC-II, or similar, to do your own specific A/F corrections.

no I don't have anything wich I can tune with, I understand your theory, but since I can't do anything with that I keep sending it to TS to get it done.

If I get a VAFC-II, I'm sure my dyno tuner can mess with it good... we'll see..
