Hail can be devastating to a car's finish. There have been more hailstorms over Georgia this year than I can ever remember. I think they may be connected to the same climatic changes that are making hurricanes stronger and more frequent. And those weather changes seem to be tied to global warming.
I remember back to May, 2003, when the 6th gen Maxima had only been out a month or two, and a terrible hailstorm in Smyrna, TN did major damage to around 2,300 new Maximas sitting in the parking lot waiting to be shipped to dealers.
As a result of that hailstorm, almost all Maxima dealers had 'hail' sales for months, and my dealer, who normally stocks from one to three dozen Maximas at any given time, was only able to keep from one to three 6th gens on hand from late May until late July. Bummer.

Me too
This was my first hail storm every!! I was in my Apt on the porch when it started pouring down raining and the wind was knock over all the pool furniture next thing I know my homegirl is like "it's Hailing" I was like oh snap!! Then I remebered the cars I saw while I was in San Marcos for the weekend and they where beat up, glass broken and everything. So I threw on my rain coat and ran out with a twin comforter trying to somewhat cover my car which wasn't much help with the winds. I ended up jumping in my car and finding an empty space under a over hang. You should have seen people in the complex scrambling for cover for there cars. I watch this 350z drive back and forth for like 10mins till he found an empty spot. Thats was crazy though. It went from being like 97 degrees to a storm. I escaped with no damage. the biggest piece I found was marble sized.
Last Wednesday I was out with my daughter getting groceries. It was a beautiful 76 degrees. While I'm in the store, it darkens and then the sky opens up! I race out of the store towards my baby! She is getting pummeled by hail. Many of the store managers were holding umbrellas out trying to escort folks to their cars and the one that helped me was also a Nissan owner. He and I tried to cover Macy the best we could!
All said and done, she has 2 small dents on her hood. You have to look at her sideways with your nose inches from the hood. All in all, I am satisfied she didn't really pay for Mother Nature's wrath.
On a side note, Light, My identical twin lives in Savannah. A couple of weeks-Month ago, they had a nasty hail storm! The kicker???? She and Hubby JUST bought TWO brand new H-3 Hummers. 750 miles each on both of them. They did sustain damage. $1275 each................
Mother Nature needs to quit with her temper tantrums already!
