More questions...

1. Would these MMI affect the torque steer problem?
ie. improve, make worse, or no affect?
2. If they fit automatics, is removing the y-pipe all it
takes to install the rears and no need to drop the sub-frame?

MMI's will do little if anything to counter tq steer. Tq. steer is largely a result of axle length vs. axle diameter and an open differential

Y Pipe removal is recommended on all cars not just autos. The problem the autos face is on the 5 speed autos the transmission is too large to allow for one of the bolts that holds the mount in place to be removed. The bolt hits the tranny. Therefore more clearance is needed. lowering the sub frame is the only reasonable option unless your removing your transmission for some reason.

The front can be done without removing the y pipe but you better have little hands or lots of patience. Removing the pipe makes things alot easier. On our test cars we've reused the existing gaskets and there were no leakes. The y pipe comes out real easy, just 8 14mm bolts

to absorb vibration. Cars are engineered for get from A to B as smoothly as possible. Manufacturers care little for the enthusiast. Well to a certain extent they do, but they generally build a car a appease the masses not the relative few that want more from their car.
