Tire change problem.. help please.

Ok, so I have a 2004 Maxima 3.5 SE, and I get a flat rear-passenger tire. Not really life or death, so I decide to change it myself. I *think* I have 245/s18's, aluminum 5 spoke rims. There are no lug nut locks that need(ed) to be unlocked, as I managed to get all 5 lugs off no problem.

Ok so here is where it gets bad.. with all 5 lugs off, the tire wont move an inch. It is not loose, nor does it feel like it intends to become loose I have no idea why it is this way. I removed the spare fromthe trunk, same wheel/rim/rubber, and had a look to see if somehow its locking from the rear, and it doesnt look like anything would be doing it.

So what could the problem be? I dont think there could be a center bolt/nut holding it on.. because I cant see anything that would do that on the spare.. and I cant get the little 'nissan' lid off the centre of the rim to see inside either.. so Im at a loss..

Does anyone know what Im doing wrong? Ive kicked the tire, placed weight back on it to see if it would pop off the studs, pulled it hard, and nothing will budge it.

Thanks for any help..

Nameth

Youd think though, that once I let off the jack enough that the tire was resting on the ground would be sufficient enough force to get it to pop off.. but it didnt.. I cant get to violent with it due to it being on a lame looking jack

So that center "nissan" logo cap in the middle of the rim means nothing? It seems like a pain the the ***...

I guess I shall just have to abuse the tire until it surrenders..

I will also try to remove another tire, just to see if it comes off easily or not.

Rediculous

On a secondary note, my wife backed into a pole and cracked the rear bumper.. not good.. does anyone knows where I can find a decent place to buy parts? Im new to the forums, so just thought Id ask. Im also in Canada, Calgary to be exact, so anyone with any local would be awesome

how cold is it where you are? -20 or colder? could be that the rim is frozen to the rim.. is your car in the garage?

With the 5 lug-nuts off, the wheel should be loose. The idea about frozen to the hub is probably likely. You need more force on the side of tire in one place to help break the wheel loose. Understand that you don't have a good jack. May need to buy a better jack and a good rubber mallet to hit the tire very hard.

Yes.. its cold as hell here right now.. Id say -20 sounds about right.. the car is in the gargage.. so maybe that will help it a bit.. but its not heated.. I have a space heater Ill use to throw some directed heat at the rim..

I did think of the cold being a factor, but damn.. 4000 lbs of car on the rim and it wouldnt give.. that to me is whack..

Thanks for the help.. Ill give it a shot

There are 4 wheels and the rear ones get less weight than the front. A shock also helps, but would not suggest dropping the car off of the jack. Hope the heat works for you. Good luck.
