So you won't reveal your techniques but you have proved it. I have seen mutliple dynos before and after of a 2.5 dual vs single 2.5 and ALL show gains. Again with this information how can you boldly say a bigger exhaust than single 2.5 will kill power. I don't mean to ride you but I have seen the numbers and you won't give any.
The muffler inlet size really doesn't play much in terms of power, the power is really determined BEFORE muffler, X-pipe or Y-pipe configuration, etc, there's so much more than the muffler that have to be taken into consideration.
To refer to the original post, if the guy runs a 3" muffler with the standard 2" or 2.25" piping on a Maxima, you will loose power.
And obviously you'll show gains with a 2.5" single/dual, but try a 3" single/dual on a NA approx. 300hp.

ups, I just got a 3.15" pre resonator 3.5" pre muffler catback for my little 240, it sure will sound mean as hell though! (will turbo my car but not now, might as well start buying the parts that i will need right!)

As for the 2.5" dual, I didn't mean single dual as in the stock setup. I was referring to true duals, headers back. A single 3" is less area than dual 2.5's.
