Im looking to get a CAI and was wondering would it be worth it without an ECU reflash.

What is worth it to you?

Depends on the brand of headers. But typically, you can upgrade the headers/y and keep the stock catback/mufflers.

Why not use free search? it gives a about a dozen ponies in the more rare cases. Half dozen typically. It does add a healthy dose of noise.

I think it does add couple of ponnies even without reflash (Fujita Owner myself).

It takes from lower range and puts it at high RPM. The car pulls like nuts at high RPM. As to the noise, believe it, its there.....and its awesome.

I have it and took out the resonator and installed a large stainless steel pipe going to the original mufflers....It's awesome sounds a bit like a G35 coupe while idling and when you floor it on the highway people freak! Besides you can reflash the ECU every once in a while by using the pedal trick (check the stickies)...I love it!

I would recommend that you install the computer if you intend to change the headers and Y pipe as the engine will run lean and you could damage it....that is not expensive though APEXi is about $200 and you could find someone to install and program it for about $150 max.

Some here even have installed NOX kits! Vroooom!

xorbitman, did you just cut it off at the flange after the cat? and go all the way to the end before the split but after the kink in the pipe?

From the y pipe back I had a custom pipe made with no resonator o then split of to two magnaflow mufflers with stainless dual tips on either side. Cost $600. I now added my fujita and my gas mileage took a dump. Do the pedal relearn or just give it some time?

Red sounds like a good setup. I'm installing my Injen CAI this weekend and currently have the Magnaflow mufflers and tips. Looks killer and improved sound a bit but I'm looking for the growl the CAI will give me too. I wasn't aware of the reflash stuff so I'll have to take a closer look at that. I'm not looking for my MPG to take a dump though.

I added a Fujita CAI and did a reflash a couple days ago. Car feel so much stronger from bottom to top.

The Fujita is fantastic...the growl is unreal when you get on it but if you drive conservative you'd never even know it was there.

Nothing to worry about. I bet most of the aftermarket intakes on 6th gens in this forum are CAI. I haven't heard of any problems yet.

Also your gas mileage should not take a dump because you added a CAI unless you are constantly flooring it to hear the roar.

Are you srue that was what the OP was referring to, and not a TS reflash?

In that case, I vote on the pedal dance reflash + intake.

Ok quick/dumb question. While installing my new Injen CAI I had the battery unplugged. I thought I saw where if you unplugged your batt for 10min+ that also reflashed the ECU. Can someone confirm?

My TB was on acid after I cleaned it. Unplugged it for 15 minutes, no, 10 hours no, 38hrs, yes. Did the pedal dance numerous times, only one that worked to reset it was the 38 hours.

Interesting.

Hey so I got my Injen CAI installed. Battery was off the hook for about 2hrs or so. Dumbarse me left the sunroof in open position now OPEN function closes it and vice versa LOL. It's backwards. Guess I'll need to redo the battery thing, no biggie.

OH and MY GAWD. The CAI sounds INCREDIBLE!!! I mean perfect! I hear what everyone has been saying, like if you don't jump hard on it still sounds stock, but man when I drop a gear good lord does it growl! F'ng incredible! I think I love this mod more than anything else I have done yet! Awesome!!!
