Not alot of people like this item because of the crappy software it comes with. That is why I had to hack it. OCN 8/IGO 8 is the program I recommend putting on this thing. If you do get it and need help with the software let me know.

I would like to change my factory display to a nice display with navigation for my maxima? Any suggestion please? I would really appreciate it. I am new to this forum. Is there any place where they do all these modifications?

 

you could start by reading the beginning of this thread. I don't think anyone else has come up with a gps replacement for the stock screen besides me. there is not a whole lot of room up there. you can try using the search at the top.

 

I just added an ipod adapter that works the steering wheel controls. I think your low cost sounds like my second mod. Moving the oem screen to the cubby sounds good since I don't use it anyway. Great job!

anyone know how to update this map? i had it for a while now and it is fine but now i started to run into problem. the other day it took me to a dead dead end road, later it told me to turn into a one way street going opposite direction. luckily i look before turning. anyways, is there anyway we can update this. thank you

 

Great install, I don't think i would have the cojones to do that.

 

the only way to update the map is to go get the igo8 program. You can purchase it online or find it through torrents. Google is your friend on this one.

 

I HAVE A 2007 MAXIMA , AND I 'M GOING TO BUY THE SOFTWARE TO UPDATE THE MAP, BUT I DON'T NO HOW TO INSTALL IT IT'S ALL FACTRY.

 

Will be posting an update to this very soon. I am currently writing script to manipulate the GPS portion.

your title says >200 (greater than 200) or under? TITLE=X and X > 200 means X is more? so your mod cost more than 200?

po8pimp, or anyone else that can help me. I have a 05MAX and wanted to relocate the OEM screen also. Great looking mod by the way. Do I have to buy or extent any cables/wires that hook up to the original screen? Do I have to fab any brackets for the relocation of the screen to the bottom cubby hole? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

 

One question. How do you turn it on and off since power button would be hidden once installed?

 

Hi, I just did this install i my 05 Maxima. As for your question, the Magellan 1700 GPS unit will power on and off automatically as you turn on your car.

 

Post pics of your install so we can see the final product. Also include what things you did differently for your specific install.
