08 Maxima- Want to replace the Skyview for a moonroof
Hey
MY 08 Max has a skyview instead of the moonroof.
I seriously hate the skyview because i like the moon roof down on hot days, and all my old Maximas had moon roofs. I personally think thats the dumbest thing they ever came up with. Why doesnt it open !!
Is it possible to replace the skyview and put a new moonroof in. Would Nissan Dealers be able to do this or like an aftermarket car shop How much would ana estimate prob cost, i know it be expensive but its almost summer time and it does get it hot where i live at.
also i found on ebay somebody is selling the actual assembly.

And having a sun/moon roof is not going to really provide you any more an efficient means of cooling a car down during the summer. Diver window + rear passenger window down will change the air volume over infinitely faster.

It's not worth the headache. I know people that have had a sunroof installed and it didn't work out well regardless of the shop or model of car. In each instance, there were leaks, wind noise, etc.. = prolonged hassle. Just stick with what you have.

Next time get a car with the options you want...

Dont do it. There are certain things that are doable, but this isnt practical at all. You could probably trade yor car in for a sun roof equipped car and even with that loss, you still would likely be money ahead than if you tried to do the swap.

Someone posted a picture of a 6th gen with a rag top recently, I couldn't find it for you to save my life. But seeing that, and knowing what people are willing to do for cash, you could find someone to do it. Chances are if they've never done it on this car before you'd be looking at some serious damage.
Point being, if you didn't have anything in the roof before, it would be easy to fit in a moon roof, but because there's already a huge hole in your roof, it's going to be very challenging...might be cheaper to just chop the whole thing and put on the rag top.

I also agree with everyone on this one buddy....
It would cost you and arm and a leg to replace the skyview with a moonroof; if you were to try the "stealership" they would rip you a new one as well (a buddy of mine got the Z and 6 months down the road wanted to change it to the top-down version....) dealership told him it's not a problem at all, but he would have to fork up something like 8k on top....he just kept the damn thing and ended up getting a bike (much cheaper in the long run) i'd recommend that
