Sideskirts and cf splitters are off. Total weight is 12 pounds for both. I thought about removing the OEM skirts as well but it would make the car look pretty ugly. Right now it looks much more stealth. When the rear cf spoiler comes off its gonna really look stealth but that comes off right before the race since it has the 3rd brake light.

Original proposal for weight loss: Actual weight loss:

OEM hood - 16lbs 4 lbs
Battery - 17 lbs 20llbs
Passenger seat - 45 lbs
Rear seats - 30 lbs
Lightweight driver seat - 20 lbs
Rear section of exhaust - 15 lbs
Body kit and diffuser - 25 lbs 25 lbs
Windshield washer - 8 lbs
Trunk and floor mats - 15 lbs

Total weight savings: Total lost so far

about 191 pounds. about 49 pounds.

Ok, this weekend, Im gonna remove the heavy stuff - rear seats, and maybe passenger seat. im also going to remove the driver seat and fit a lightweight FG bucket seat to the car. It weighs about 13 lbs which is more than 50 lbs less than the OEM seat and more than 30 lbs lighter than my lighterweight Recaro seat. Ill keep u posted with the weight reduction.

Rear seats alone weigh 60 lbs and they are out. The rear deck top plus rear seat belts weigh 10 lbs. Bolts, the two rear heavy metal braces (which do not help performance), speakers and big metal thing in between the speakers weigh 11 lbs total Total weight reduction is 81 lbs for seats and associated parts.

PROPS FOR showing what a max can do...are your 18s lightweight? i put some light weight 17s on my car(will clear 04 brakes) and saved almost 16lbs per wheel...55lbs for 18s, 39 lbs for 17s..

Yes fairly lightweight 18s. I have 300zx brakes and stock rotors so id have to look at spoke design. I think my total weight for each wheel and tire is 45 pounds and I have the heavy but incredibly sticky Azenis RT615 tires. I have RH Evolution J5 rims size 18x9.

I am having difficulty figuring out how to mount my 9 lb fiberglass seat. My Recaro bracket and slider weighs 12 lbs (its 3 lbs more than my FG seat!!). Suggestions??

Race seat is installed and passenger seat removed. I did a test drive with my Sparco harness cinched up. This car is unbelievable. Its so exciting to drive. It hauls azz now that its lighter. I reinstalled my regular battery since the Braille battery baaaaarely starts the car. For the race, I will have the Braille battery in and the floor and trunk mats and other things out for about 40 more pounds of weight off of what it is now. Im still thinking about removing the rear door panels for another 15-20 lbs of weight. Where are all the speakers in the car? Is there a subwoofer somewhere? I have the two on the rear deck removed. Opinions? Comments? Anyone want a ride?

I wouldn't bother w/ the other speakers in the doors. At most, you might save 5lbs by removing all of them.

2 piece rotors along with ultra lightweight 17" rims would help a lot. Im hoping for that next year along with some coilovers. Lets see how I do this year. FOUR MORE DAYS.

What a coincidence. Filmtools is about 45 minutes from me in Burbank, near that mall that we met at. Seems a bit pricey though I am definitely looking for a cam mount though.

What do u think a cop would do if he pulled me over and saw no interior?

Wow, that's exactly what I keep telling people about a car that can not only provide performance but equal handling. Night and day difference in handling stance!!!

In all fairness to my car, I did lose a few pounds although Im in pretty good shape and didnt really need to lose it. I just figured if my car was gonna go through the hassle of weight reduction, then I should help 'er out a little

I say get some superlight weight 17s for the front with sticky tires and remove front bumper bar, i wouldn't remove too much weight from the rear of the car, it might throw your balance off and mess up your handling.

Is the bumper bar removable? Any weight that you remove is beneficial. I can always dial in better handling with the adjustable front and rear struts/shocks.

And I will vacuum the car. I should get a pic of the car without the body kit and cf hood. It looks more stealth.

I got a camera mount for the harness bar so I should be able to get some vids for you fellas. Looks like a Pep Boys type seat cover will have to do as i cant find a seat cover for this kind of seat that I have. Ill make a battery hold down tonight using a thick piece of aluminum. Ill fill the gas tank and splash with 100 octane. Im also gonna slightly overfill the oil to compensate for the side G forces that the oil goes through to make sure I dont get oil starvation in the turns. This car really makes some serious Gs. Also, I noticed the brakes are MUCH better since they have much less weight to stop. I head up to Lone Pine tomorrow late morning. Ill bring my laptop so I can keep u guys posted if you like.

the door panels have got to be atleast 10pounds each if youv ever taken it off and felt it its def more then 5 pounds so say there all ten pounds thats 40 and while you have them off pull the speakers to thats probably good for another few pounds

I found some Falken Azenis RT615 size 255 40 18 for $300 plus tax including mount and balance. I want to find a lightweight seat that isnt too expensive. Im taking suggestions.

I know but they are such a pain in the azz to get on and off and the fasteners seem to break and then u have rattles. If I see that Im behind in top time of day, I may take them off to lose some weight and drop my time some.

Not sure how its removed, you can ask any bodyshop if its just bolt that hold it together.

try a run with your heater on and your rear windows cracked a bit and see if that helps. You might be surprised. You can also buy heat wrap from pepboys and wrap your intake and piping. The cooler the engine the better. Heat wrap is pretty cheap also.

I do run with heater on but blower not on for less draw on the alternator. I have the underside of the intake manifold covered in insulation.

I am here in the hotel at Lone Pine. My car passed tech with flying colors. People seemed to like my Braille battery and lack of interior for some reason. I have VERY stiff competition. I trailered Viper, and Eclipse that has gotten top time of day a lot here, a Mazdaspeed3 with loads of aftermarket goodies, Corvettes, BMW M3, Subaru Sti (new one), etc etc. Also they slowed the course down with some chicanes on the back straightaways which neatralizes my advantage. Maybe I wont get TTOD but Ill do my best to represent us 6th Genners.

You know he's gonna post some nice video for us. Good job on weight reduction. My SE is 3660lbs with 1/4 tank gas minus floor mats and spare tire. If you are down to 3100lbs that is quite a feat. Like you said every little bit counts. Good luck!

Thanks guys. Taking break for lunch. I only worked the course. Racing is at 2:30 for my class. I am guessing that I am 3100 lbs if the curb weight is 3400 and I dropped about 300 lbs off the car. Top time of day is an Evo 10 with about a 1:36. Not sure if I can get good vids since my camera wiggles too much on the extension I got. I need a solid extension for the mount. Ill see what I can do. Maybe Ill just take vids during fun runs. Anyway, time to race.

Im back from an eventful afternoon. A BMW rolled and smooshed its top. Several cars including the Viper spun out. In the end, I got fastest time of the afternoon and about 5th top time of day, and also a win in the very fast California Street Modified class, where almost anything goes. I came within a few seconds of the Evo. AN Sti and an Acura beat me too. So did a CLK500. Shshshshsh. He was a fabulous driver. But I beat Corvettes, the Viper, Civics, Mustang, Integras, Miatas, etc. etc.

I dont think 95% of u all realize what an amazing car we have. Most run it 1320 feet, or if ur like Lightonthehill, u drive it with underinflated tires and putz down the street. This car, when modified some, performs like a world class automobile. Its brakes pulled my teeth from my mouth. The power was just awesome. It turns like no other. And if u f**k up, it will get you out of your mess looking pretty. It handles so well, that it is beyond my ability as a driver. I think a great driver could beat just about anyone out here. Lone Pine tests a cars power, brakes, handling, steering, and your nerves. The Maxima does it all so amazingly well, that i wish I could convey how wonderful it is to drive.
I told the former charman of this event, Craig Angel, that i hoped to get top time of day today before he died last year. He said "In a MAXIMA?" I said yes. Well, Craig I didnt get ttod, but i won California Street Mod and got one of the fastest times of the day out of over 70 cars. Not bad for a Nissan, eh?
