Congrates for being a new owner of maxima. You've got 5 speed transmission. If you ever require to buy transgo kit then they are widely available on ebay or just call your local transtar representative.

It's 5sp. Manuals come with 6.
Call Transtar at the number below, you can get the kit plus two gaskets for $100 even.
if you go thru ebay you'll pay 120 just for the kit.
I actually took a ride to the warehouse, but they will ship it to you.
Now you are going to need a place to install it, becareful who you choose.
Here's one everyone in NY is raving about, I took a ride there and spoke to the manager, he said they have changed over 20 maximas, but they give no guarantee. They charge around 650+ if you go empty handed and $500 if you bring the kit with you. that's what they quoted me. he also said the car stays over night. good luck.
"JMR garage and its located @ 214 N fehr Way Bayshore, NY 11706. its by the L.I.E here's the number 631-940-3638, give them a call"

Hey guys, been reading this thread for a while. Got an 04 3.5SE and started getting the same problems around 110k. Went out and bought the Transgo kit and the gaskets, but a friend of mine works for Nissan and she got me a brand new valve body at cost, so Im going that route. Which means I have my used valve body, the kit, and the gaskets ill sell for $300. This way you could rebuild it without losing your car for a few days. Shoot me an email if interested calves2121@yahoo.com. Ill be doing the switch soon and can have it mailed out by the weekend. Its the 5spd Auto Tranny.

I ordered the Transgo kit from CTPowertrain - just arrived on my doorstep today. What are these gaskets? Do I need these separately from this kit? I think I am getting confused more and more as I read and re-read this thread.

If you don't want to purchase his kit through ebay.. try the website.

http://www.ctpowertrain.com/servlet/...0-SHIFT/Detail

^what I ordered

Hope this helps some people find the right kit..

I find it to be an oxymoron this Nissan slogan for this thread "SHIFT_"

Wait a minute.

Level10 charge $698 if sending your valve body to them.
So they charge:
parts + labor = $698 period.

They buy used valve body for $100
So their total charge (not sending in your valve body) should be:
used valve body + parts + labor = $100 + $698 = $798

Then why they are selling their fixed valve body (not sending yours) for $1471?

Something simply does not add-up here.

Just got off the phone with my local Nissan dealer.
They wanted $1,150 for the valve. I asked him for a discount, politely he said no problem. I told him Courtesy Nissan is offering Valve Body for $845.
He said you got it, $845 I can do. I guess the moral of the story is, check your local Nissan Parts and ask for a discount. Try different dealers if you have to. I have about 6 of them sorrounding me. Going over this afternoon to pick it up. I'm taking a week off next week and going to change the valve body myself.

PS, I have a valve body with less that 2500 miles that I bought brand new. I'm only selling it for $500, a $400 dollar loss to me. Level 10 rebuilt my old one, so I'm selling my new one!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you the one that had the 1st valve body blown done by them, and had it to have it redone? I know you use your car very hard and you need a good shift kit. All I know is, these guys don't have magic up their ***, they have to order parts too.
The new version of the valve by Nissan corrects all the previous problems and comes with warranty for $845. Levelten wants $1400. I know for a fact they don't build their own, so, it's either rebuilt or they bought nissans new valve and reselling for $1400.

PS:Level10 - if you want my old valve it will cost you $350.

Just purchased new valve body at local Nissan dealer for $865 after tax.
Tip: work with these people, they work on sales commission (never knew that) maybe that's just around here.
Checkout pics: smells brand new.

Going to start job Sunday.

That was lightning fast. If all go well then you will be set for at least another 100k miles. Can you please confirm exact build month & year of your car?

If you've found a shop to go to please let me know. I live in Richmond, VA. I bought my car from an independent dealer and he has his own mechanics. I took it back the first time, they said they fixed it(same jerking problem as everyone else) then the obvious, it acts up again. I'm really getting annoyed. Especially when I put $3000 down on my Max. Thx!

not trying to pick sides but level 10 installs there beefed up valvebodys for $1,000. on a comparison once you add fluid to the oem nissan valvebody you'll be at about $900.00 plus all the wrenching you'll have to do.

chernmax is boosted and he has this mod so for a normal daily driver level 10's valvebody may be a better choice but im watching and waiting for your experince to see the outcome.

chernmax

what will shipping be for your oem 1 to 01104 ( just for future reference )

there's no proof of that. Question was raised before, levelten just said, 100% fix. Well Nissan Valve is 100% fixed also.
Also do a bit of customer satisfaction research on levelten then come back to me.
Nissan has fixed and upgraded all issues the old ones, with warranty.
Ask levelten how much warranty they give on your rebuild valve.
Bottom line is, levelten does not have magic parts, they don't build their own parts, they buy their parts from distributors to upgrade valve, so basically you are getting a used valve with new improved parts. well Nissan's valve also has new improved parts but valve is brand new.
PS: Plan to sell my old valve to levelten for $350 if they want it. for less i won't. or fix it for future use. i

I got my new valve body at Clay Nissan and they originally wanted $1100 for it. My friend who works there gets it at cost plus 10%. The dealership gets it for roughly 680$ and marks it up to 1100$ I got it for $750. Hope that helps when trying to put a price on things

yes, ask how much the extra warranty will cost you for the tranny.
Probably 3k.(not worth it). you will need to chane your Tranny oil every 30k.
I would ask them to change tranny oil before buying car.
(not a flush) very important if you want that valve working properly as the car starts hitting 75K and up. with 28k you are good for years, it all depends how you treat your car.

Level 10 reengineers the entire valve body to fix it 100% where Nisson just gives you the same old issue in a new box,,,good luck pal,, you will see for your self,, and by the way your old valve body has no value to us,,I can see it is hard for you to comprehend

It's always good to know people.
for those that don't have inside people, don't accept $1150 as a sale.
tell these people you want it for $800 and see what they say.

Scrui,

I still don't undertand why did you go with 31705-8Y00A instead of latest version 31705-8Y00B?

Here is the break down if someone need to understand this whole valve body part numbering scheme.

31705-8Y000 = First version = Discontinued
31705-8Y001 = Next+ version = Replaced by 31705-8Y00A
31705-8Y002 = Next ++ version = Replaced by 31705-8Y00B
(I was told 31705-8Y00C is coming out soon.....seems like NOT)

They all are interchangeable. At least that's what I confirmed from 3 dealers.

The price is right at $850. Almost 80% of dealers will agree to let this go for $850.

What are the chances you could get more of this for $750?

I am sure he went through new OEM valve body because his original OEM valve body pushed him over 100k miles. That means the next OEM valve body he just bought should go another 100k miles. He also did not receive 100k miles warranty from level10 because he believe his new bought valve body will at least serve him 100k miles like his original valve body did. He's got facts that OEM valve body served him to 100k miles so he is confident going with another OEM valve body to push another 100k miles. However no mileage warranty he is getting from level10.

I'm not fighting with you, I'm giving you my 2 cents and where did you get that I was.
I'm glad you did the research, this will help you make an educated decision.
Now I know I'm not the first to do oem, but I'm happy with my choice.
I personnaly would not go with Level10 (that's me) from a source at Transtar the new Nissan valve has all the upgraded parts so the issue would not happen again. (take it for what it is worth).
Me fighting, yo, i know when companies are trying to rip you off. I let you know the info. you take it or you leave it. that's it man.

I personnaly would not go with Level10 (that's me) from a source at Transtar the new Nissan valve has all the upgraded parts so the issue would not happen again. (take it for what it is worth).
Me fighting, yo, i know when companies are trying to rip you off. I let you know the info. you take it or you leave it. that's it man.

my fault for thinking you were fighting and im man enough to admit im wrong if your intentions where not of that. the guy kevin made much since about the factory valvebody going 70 to 100k so if the new 1's have been better made then this would be a solid choice. i may just buy chernmax's vavlebody and ride out with a nissan part

No reason to apologize.
I have been pondering this decision for about a month now, after reading this whole thread twice, speaking to shops, speaking to Transtar reps, speaking to levelten in this forum, speaking to us members, prices, etc. my decision was easy.
Levelten - hush, hush, top secret about what they replace parts with, no warranty.
$1000 ( way to much money) w/o warranty.
Transgo Kit - sounds good, but they want so much money to install, the cheapest I got $650 with no guarantees.
Nissan's - newest valve w/ warranty $750 -$850 (if it takes me another 100k I'll be happy). note: change oil every 30k
PS: unless you are getting the new valve from him at 1/2 of the cost, I would order a new one from nissan.
