Thanks Costee....that was helpful. Also found the manual for the tranny and the car and there is no torque sequence.

NOW.....where the hell is the transmission drain plug??? I cannot find it anywhere. It is not where pictured in the manual.

Is that the drain plug....because I saw somewhere what people mistake for a drain plug is actually the band anchor bolt

She says it hasn't run this smooth in a long time.

Hello, read the whole thread. I have 04 se with 78,000 miles and a P0780 code. I'm a female so I don't know the correct verbiage for my issue but it hesitates when accelerating so I have to accelerate slowly to about 40 mph, then coast or it feels like I'm losing power. I'm wondering if a trans flush or a valve body will fix the issue. If valve body is it ok to go with rebuilt/remanufactured or new.

Speaking from personal experience I'd suggest a new oem valve body.

It squarely is.That was the code on my 2006 Max in 2011. It signifies that the pressure solenoids have gone dysfunctional.

Thanks for your responses. The few videos YT have for this code said it was the fluid/solenoids/valve body. Nissan wants 1400.00 for the valve body which is insane. I checked sunbelt they want 600.00 for remanufactured/rebuilt. Where can I get an new OEM other than nissan. Also Is this an easy thing to do I found a mobile mechanic on CL bc the auto repair shops wants to replace the trans.

mine has fluid starting to look brown ish. i'm thinking i'm going to drain, it put in valvolene maxlife warm up it for good long while then drain and pop off the valvebody and do the transgo kit amd another batch of fresh maxlife. the idea is to flush out crap or metal for the short time it's been driven when the tranny was warm and not shifting right.

It's the RE4F04B, That's what's mounted on the 5th Gen Maxima for example.

where the hell is the filter located? if it's not on top of or under the valve body where is it?

this sonnax kit looks like it changes some other stuff too, i don't think thee transgo has all those extra spools

edit: not sure if just new parts or modified parts

it got better after draining and adding 4qt of the valvolene not fixed but, better. was tempted by eBay valve bodies but, i should probably do the trans go kit to be sure it's done right. however im thinking it wouldn't hurt to clean the rest of the valve body assembly. too bad the poll doesn't have one for people who install trans go or valve body and it didn't fix it.

is there a TCM relearn procedure? the volvo uses the same trans and there is a relearn procedure after reinstalling the valve body.

EDIT: i see there a few trans go kits with VB gaskets! and others without.

EDIT: found the filter

edit: does the transgo have these o rings?

okay sonnax sells and entire VB rehab kit among many other parts.

as far as VBs go where or what brands of VBs are you getting? surely in 2024 you aren't getting nissan oem for $800?

Sonnax used to sel la VB

so two shift kits sonnax and trans go. sonnax is reamerless, no reaming required. sonnax has parts in theres that the trans go does not, from what i'm seeing. the only reamers in the trans go kits is to clean junk out of the solenoids before readjusting them.

i'm almost wondering about combing the kits.

this post, mentions a relearn after new noids: https://maxima.org/forums/6th-genera...ml#post8861618

well i didn't mark the B2 control valve plug when i pulled it, out, i compared waer marks to wear barks in the barrel/cylinder, hopefully thats good enough. 1 in 3 chance i got it right. that valve is at the bottom so the VB has to come out to change it.

I seem to have misplaced the file I had with the computer relearn process and I need to perform it again. The link in this thread is dead, can anyone help me with this?

Thanks.

I found the relearn procedure but now I am confused at how to read the transmission dipstick. There are two notches near the bottom and then about a half an inch above the top one is a crosshatched area. Now by conventional automotive wisdom it would be the top notch but considering there is a crosshatch area then that tells me it needs to be within the crosshatched area. But why are they notches then?

Vary confused here, any help would be appreciated.
