Battery ? Needing some advice quick.

It's been hot in California. The last few days have been tripple-digit. My wife's Murano had a little problem starting yesterday. This morning, when I turned the key, the engine didn't catch on, just ..tach...tach...tach... very fast (just like a machine gun). All the lights are normal. I had to send her to work in my Max. The Murano is 2.5yr old and 42Kmiles. Sound like a weak battery ?!!
About to head out to the store. Needing some inputs ! thanks.

Extreme cold and heat are very hard on batteries. Wait till it cools down a bit and see how the battery performs. No need to waste $$$.

Sounds like a weak battery and/or corrosion at the terminals

It's the battery !

There was no corrosion. The headlights even came on. The engine wasnot able to turn.
I took the battery to Kragen and checked out to be pretty weak. I bought the 84month replacement. Started the car right up. I can't take any chance with my wife's car.
I know OEM batteries are cheapo. But this would be the shortest one. I normally got them out between 3-4years, weak or not. Thanks for all the inputs (my 25year-old multimeter took a dump just when I needed).

YES!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE RIGHT. THAT JUST HAPPENED TO ME.

I hate it! I swear! Had my car for 13 months only and at 31000 my battery went out just a month after it would have been covered 100% by NISSAN! Those batteries are really cheapos.

Went to the dealership and I had to pay 54.45 a replacement NISSAN battery. I just hate that about my car! I can't believe this about Nissan.

If the factory batteries are junk, why did you put a factory battery back into it?

I had this issue with my corolla, but with the maxima, I switched over to a redtop and that was the end of the battery problems.
