Newb to the Forum with suspension questions

Hey everyone, I just traded in a 2006 VW GTi MkV for the 2006 Nissan Maxima SE on saturday. Took the car to be inspected by my friend who is a techmechanic and he said all was good but the struts/shocks because of lowering springs, I haven't taken the wheels off to see what brand of spring yet. After looking around the forum a bit the past couple days I noticed that it seems the preferred brand is KYB-GR2 struts/shocks.

What other recommendations do you guys have for me to research besides the KYB's? Also, I noticed on a KYB distributor's site there were options for strut and shock mount kits at additional costs. Is this going to be necessary?

As for struts you only have two options, KYB's and Monroe's

Took a peak behind the wheels today and saw green springs, first thought it was Tein, but I had to find an emblem to verify and sure enough they are.

shocks/struts don't make the difference in your drop, the springs do...and no KYB GR2's are not adjustable

Do the KYBs address the issues with the poor oem strut insulators?

picked up some KYB's, now trying to decide if I should replace the strut mounts...my brother who is a tech/mechanic says its not entirely necessary but might as well since you are in there.
