Stupid question, what is bank 2 having cat issues...

I'm guessing that I made a critical mistake in assuming I knew what/where bank 2 was. I had the precat replaced on the firewall side of the engine and the car is still running TERRIBLE. So, is the front side actually bank 2 and I'm just an unlucky moron who lost out on a 50/50 shot? Code is P0430 and I've lost tons of power, only hoping I've not done any permanent damage in sorting this issue out.

Thanks guys.

You'd end up replacing both precats eventually anyways. How many miles are on your car? If you have less than 80,000, that still qualifies for federal emissions warranty.

Well, that was the good news, the one I replaced the packing or what have you was loose, I could shake it and cause it to roll a round and make noise. My car(actually a quest ) has right under 130k miles on it so no warranty help at all. A local shop replaced the rear one for $200 in labor, and I bought one for $205 from rock auto. The front one looks to be slightly easier and I've already ordered it as well. I'd like to toss in a quick shameless plug for Lithia of Ames(nissan honda dealer), they've been very accomodating in answer questions and shipping me parts when needed. They are 30 miles farther than Hummels of des moines from me, but haven't once been ****s to me or my wife.

I certainly will, would it be a good idea to do an oil change following this just as a slight helper incase something was sucked up in it? I know it'd probably be a case of too little too late, but it couldnt hurt could it? Other than having less than 500 miles on the oil lol.

Well, both "pre cats" got replaced. This alone, still did not cure the issue. The final cat was plugged full of **** as well, at this point my non-factory issue mechanic knocked all the guts out of it.

Power is back, gas mileage is better than it has been in the 15,000 miles I've owned it. Not verdict on oil consumption yet as I've only put 400 miles or so on it yet, but at the very least it's running strong for the time being. If she's not burning, terrific, if she is.....I'll trade it off on a toyota

Im having a simalar issue only no loss of power. Throws the code every couple hundred miles. Im gonna replace My sensors but want to make sure thats the issue before I "throw" parts at it.
