New 6th gen Max owner very stressed!

So I've had my 2004 Nissan Maxima for a little less then a month, And I need some help big time!. I sadly purchased the car before I knew anything about the faulty tranny's. Big surprise mine has been nothing but problems with the hard shifts and slipping since I've had it. I've had it in once for a transmission service but it made it better for all of maybe a day, Before things got wonky again. Also what I believe to be the timing chain needs to be fixed (Odd rattling type noise under the hood when the car is first started). And something is also not right with my driver side mirror and window (Not positive if they are connected) But when pushing the 1 or 2 for the comfort settings the side mirror adjusts as well, Usually going straight up or straight down. The window stopped going down the other day for awhile but started working again later that same day... I am incredibly stressed, as this is my 2nd car. I ended up trading in my first (04 Pontiac Sunfire) towards it thinking it was a bit of an upgrade, But sadly I actually miss the Sunfire with the problems I've been having. What are my options and what kind of cost am I looking at to fix things? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you bought it from a dealership, I would take the car back there and try to get them to fix it. If not, you're in for some major repairs. You're looking at a minimum of $5-6,000 if you're problems are as you describe.

If you bought it at a dealer, take it back now.

Rattling you describe is the typical timing tensioners issue, runs about 1.4-1.9K labor + parts at the dealer. Transmission issues is the valve body, but if it has been like this for a long time, there might be internal damage now and only fix would be a full transmission rebuilt. Take it to the dealer and demand them to fix it.

I owned my 2006 piece of crap Maxima for 3 days and 72 miles before I took it back!! No problems with my 2008 so far....unless you consider how weak the CVT tranny is off the line a problem.

I bought it at a used lot Kryogen, Idiot move on my behalf. And a new problem to surface is the car was nice and jerky on my way home from work today and all of a sudden my check engine light came on and the car was struggling to accelerate. Wasn't sure if I was going to make it home.

Sell or slowly repair these issues. Hopefully you are not making payments on it.

Things could be worse...good luck!
