hey i was wondering what holds the lower engine cover for the maxima in place. the reason is i went over a very high speed bumb and i found that it scrapped the lower engine cover and 2 rivets fell out. the 2 on the right side attatched to the underside of the bumper fell out but i put new ones back in. I was wondering if there should be 4 holding the cover in place? is it normal that the lower engine cover can move around and is abit lose. How many rivets total hold the piece in place?

The engine undercover takes 4 or 5 plastic push-pin in the front, that push up through the lip on the front bumper. Also, each side of the rear of the undercover takes some different sized push-pins.

Here are the part nos. that you'll need, get under the car and check the no. of holes in the undercover. Also, if you ran over something...I think you enlarged the push-pin holes. When I did that, I replaced the entire undercover and all push-pins. Its a really cheap setup.

1. Cover, Engine under 75890-7Y000
2. Clip, Front Cover (5) 01553-09241
3. Clip, Rear Cover (13) 01553-09321

Here's an update to my previous post. I've located Nissan service bulletin about these front push-pins. NTB06-022 says replace the push-pins for the front edge of the under cover with these parts.
