rear deck rattle in 04 maxima

Installed a 12inch kicker and 600watt JL audio amp... and now the rear deck where the 6×9 are rattles ridiculously I thought it might be the brake light housing so I removed it but still it rattled I know I could line the trunk with hush mat or something of that nature but the ratyle isnt in the trunk if any of you guys out there have any advice on how I can stop this rattle I'd appreciate it.

Known issue. You would need to isolate the noise. Sometimes it comes from seat belt assembly, either one of those 3 in the back (if you have a 5-seat model, or 2 in the back if it's a 4-seat, I believe SL is a 4-seat, not sure. The only way to isolate noise is to take rear panel off. If noise is not coming from seat belt assy's, then it must be real panel itself. I believe Nissan sells some sort of a noise suppression kit for that or you can use your own foam strips or whatever works.

If you decide to go ahead and take rear panel off, it is made of some sort of cardboard, very easy to break, just a word of warning, be slow and careful. You don't want to know what the new panel costs.

Does the panel have clips or does it just come right out

There is a NTB03-066 issued regarding rear deck rattle. Nissan recommends using part# 76268-9E005 (urethane pad) to get rid of rattle.

Are you sure it's the deck that rattles or seat belt assy underneath?

And I don't think hash mat will work, it may be too thick and deck will not clip back, deck is held in place with plastic clips, that go through metal panel and lock on other side underneath.

Yes, it has clips, but it won't unclip unless you take some body parts that are on the way. That includes folding seat, and then there is a panel behind the seat as well. Some more panels on sides, I just don't remember. You should be able to figure it out on your own.

I had a hell of a time with this issue when I first did my sounds. I dynomatted the whole trunk and rear deck. That didn't work so I used the rubber foam you get in rolls from Lowes. I put pieces everywhere. That helped out a lot. Still **** about it and the small vibrations, I pulled the back seat down and put some behind it where the seatbelts are. Then before installing the rear deck lid, I removed the plastic clips and replaced them with bolts and washers that I aligned and tightened from inside the truck with lock nuts. That lid is not going anywhere. worked like a charm.....
