Replace sunglass holder in overhead console
Replace sunglass holder in overhead console
Hi,
I took out my overhead console in my 05 maxima because the sunglasses holder is broken. It seems possible to just replace the sunglasses holder in the existing console by removing 2 screws. All the springs and gears in what I have are gone from the previous owner so I am not sure what I would be dealing with there.
Also, I do not see a part number for the sunglasses holder separate from the console assembly. Has anyone out there tried to do this.
Thanks

In case anyone is wondering the correct way to remove the overhead console on a 6th gen Maxima.
The correct way to remove the overhead is to remove the screw from the inside the sunglasses case. The part end of the console closest to the windshield is pulled straight down to release the metal clips. The part of the over head console closest to the backseat is held on by plastic nubs. In order to remove the console from the nubs you need to push the console back towards the rear seat. You can see the horseshoe type seat where those nubs go in picture and how pushing back away from the windshield would release it. Hope it helps some before they did what I did!
I ended up order a whole new console. If someone is looking for parts I still have the old one I good shape with the exception of the broken sunglass case. It actually stays closed in its current state. It is gray.

My other 2 projects this week are to install USA spec iPod interface and get into the center console/arm rest and push my seat heater button back flush to its original location. Wish I had a garage with all this snow!
