Who had code P1283? What was a problem?

Code 1283
I had the same problem . I posted a month ago. Its the A/F sensor. The 02 sensor on Bank 2.. Check the electrical connector and harness for any signs of loose or broken wires.. If the visual inspection checks ok,suspect a faulty sensor, and most commonly replacement should solve the problem. I had to replace mine and it was PITA and I had to get a mechanic to do it. Hope it helps

P1283 after installing front cheap and rear walker cats..
ok after replacing my cats on my 6th Gen.. I got it solved..
1. Purchased a exhaust manifold from rock auto. Part #DORMAN 674934
2. Purchased a exhaust manifold gasket rock auto. {Part #BECK/ARNLEY 0378138
3.Purchased bosch upstream 0/2 sensor Advance auto Parts. Part No: 17264
4. PB Blaster
5. 2 Exhaust gaskets Advance auto parts #60835 #61338
6. 1. Cat converter CHEAP https://www.ebay.com/itm/25365269507...m=253652695077 for the front (radiator side)
* 7. Rear cat converter from amazon (Walker 16419 Catalytic Converter)
I replaced the rear and front cats because of cat converter failure codes not because of P1283. Really this was the first step. I bought a walker for the back (firewall side) for quality I didn't want to replace this one as often. but front was a cheap brand...
8. Spray, Spray Spray Spray those bolts. Exhaust header, exhaust, Cat converter, o/2 sensor too.... they will come loose.
9. Replace rear converter with walker unit.. You will have to remove flex pipe... Spray let sit spray let sit.. I let mine sit for 3 days... Bolts came loose....
10. Move to the front.... Take loose front cat Conv, it will come out.
11. remove front exhaust manifold.. Those bolts Will come out.... Spray..
I went through 3 cans of pb blaster soaking bolts every morning before I leave for work and every evening when I come home.12. replace all this stuff.. The I got P1283 ITS AN EXHAUST LEAK.. FIND THE exhaust leak..
13... Very important.. go to youtube. How to test for exhaust leak with a shop vac... IT WORKS..
14. Identify the leaks with bubble water.
14a there is an adapter nut on the dorman exhaust header its a 35mm nut you have to really tighten this nut that the o/2 screws into or the nut will leak. you will get P1283 if you don't tighten this nut good.
15. Take it to the muffler shop have them to seal all the leaks... Its very important that they don't BS you. If the leaks are not sealed you will get 1283 again again and again.. It happened to me. Finally went to an ugly front muffler shop and $20. they sealed all the leaks.. light is out and my dash is pretty... NO SES light... Mission complete... hope this helps....
Go get your emissions test and watch it pass...
