Keep or Upgrade?
Keep or Upgrade?
Folks,
I'm torn between keeping my 06 Maxima vs upgrading to 2011 G37 Convertible (RWD) that I had my eyes on for quite a while.
My scenario - I'm in the Northeast, bad winters, fairly short commute, don't have a garage, no space to store winter tires, no overnight street parking in my town. Current car is in good shape, bought new, now just over 80k, new tires, brakes and transmission. We also have an SUV for hauling kids.
The G37 is in a great shape, low mileage, decent price. RWD - horrible in snow. Keeping both is an option, however a hassle paying for extra insurance and parking.
So what would you do?

Geez.
If it weren't for the snow, I'd say get the G37. You'd enjoy the upgrade. But you definitely won't be doing yourself any favors with a RWD convertible in the winter, and a nice car won't stay nice in the salt forever either unless you fork even more money over for protection or clean it like a crazy person.
I'd say put the money into the Maxima, maybe give it a little something to make it feel new (good detail, an upgrade you'd like to have to make it feel new to you) and save up for the day when you can have a summer toy and a winter tank.
IMO.

With all the new new new in your car, I don't see any reason to get rid of it. You've got a nice car now that is good all year round, and you say it's in good condition. Like others said too, it's lower profile than a g37, so cheaper and less risky to have in almost every way.
