Downstream Oxygen Sensor Help Please
Downstream Oxygen Sensor Help Please
I ordered some new Denso O2 sensors for my downstream on my 2004 Maxima SE, and I found the ones I needed on Denso's website, then cross referenced them before ordering. I have the parts now and have filled out an online technical request with Denso but still have not heard back from them.
My issue is, the sensor's that Denso says are for the front and right (rear) banks have reversed color plugs. The new front bank sensor, by their website, has a green plug. My original front bank sensor that I removed has a blue plug. The new right has a blue plug, the old a green. The only visible difference between them is the length of the wires. I have checked and rechecked the websites and according to them I ordered the correct parts.
Has anyone else ran into this issue? Is there something I am missing here?
Does anyone know if the actual sensor's themselves are the same other than the length of the wires? I believe they will reach if I just swap them front to back (on the sensors themselves, I realize one of the connecting plugs is senses for the front while the other senses for the back so I will keep that part consistent.) Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. I will post a follow-up when or if I hear for Denso's Technical support.

After looking on Denso's website, I noticed the universal O2 sensors for my car use exactly the same sensor part number for front and right, the only difference being you have to splice your old plugs onto the new sensors.
Going under the assumption that the sensor themselves on the new OEM matching parts are the same, and since the wires would reach, I swapped them out front to right keeping the original plugs in the correct position. I'm not anticipating having any issues, but I'll see if it throws a code once I crank it up.
