No shift past 3rd gear .

Hi I am new to the forum , I am looking at a 2004 Nissan Maxima 3.5se . The seller is telling me that it won’t shift past 3rd gear , but if you put it in the semi manual mode it will shift fine . I am just looking on what it could be ? I live a few hrs from the seller so I have not driven the car my self.
thanks for the information.

I agree do both pull the codes and check fluid level and condition, test drive and feel how it shift could be something simple as either a filter, shift solenoid or pcm re program TO SOMETHING AS IN NEEDING A NEWISH TRANNY. sorry hit caps button by mistake

Hello, I have a 2008 Nissan Maxima that's in limp mode I was told to replace the TCM I've been told it's in the transmission, under the dash I just don't know. Please help. roddy_clark@outlook.com

could very be an abs issue, mines did/have an abs issue and mines was also in limp mode, to test and see, remove one of the rear wheels sensors from the hub, but leave it connected to the connector, instead of limp mode, it will just bypass the abs entirely.
