Cooling fan not running

So one of my two cooling fans aren’t running. The passenger side unit is the one not running. (Not running with/without AC, not running after driving 10 miles in 100F + TX heat).

What is the recommended steps for determining if the fan is bad (how many relays, etc), and what is the recommended brand of fan to replace it with if bad? And if I replace one, should I replace both?

Start with the fuses. If all check Okay, then jump the fan motor from the battery while making sure that it has proper ground. If not runs - the motor is bad. If runs - it is something else (relay, fuse).
You can replace one fan. The recommended brand is OEM if you are planning to keep the car.

Run an independent wire from positive side on top of the battery to the positive lead on the fan...while also connecting the negative to ground if it is not directly connected to ground. If you gotta ask that, might I suggest that ya get someone there with you that knows a bit about cars to help. Tarzan gave you very sound troubleshooting advice, the performance of that task is up to you. If you can't figure this part out, that's where it leads me to believe you're not used to working on cars, you can damage the electrical system if you do something wrong.

That’s ok, this isn’t a forever vehicle. All I was asking was for advice on any “trick” since it appears Nissans are special. I’m pretty sure there’s a “rule” about keeping responses on topic and free of drama. He gave **** advice, I gave a **** thank you. Maybe the rules don’t apply to him. Typical forum.

You were insulted? maybe you should reread. The point to be taken, if you're asking what seem to be unsure/shaky questions that expose potential inexperience, it's important to understand that some of the advice received here could put you into a situation where you either damage the car or get hurt if you don't have some real car experience.

You don't have to like the way free advice was delivered, but you take shots like this and send aggressive PM's to members in an attempt to intimidate you're not really accomplishing anything but showing what a short fuse and poor manners you have.

Did you get this fixed?

If the fan blades turn freely by hand (just give it a little spin), and don't bind or make noise, the motor is most likely fine. Skip fuses and relay and go straight to the plug and test for voltage during a condition the fan would normally be on (running, AC on, etc.). If no voltage then time to break out the big guns.

Also, fans are cheap and easy enough to replace. You're going to pull the whole thing and do all the work to replace a single motor anyway, just replace the whole thing, I wouldn't even bother replacing a single motor, just head to ebay and pick up an inexpensive fan set.

Let us know.

The fuses are fine, relay is fine. Getting power to the fan as well. When assisted to start spinning, the fan will turn, but at very low speed, maybe 1/4 of normal speed.

Will probably just replace the fan at this point.
