Timing change replacement

I have a 2005 maxima with 182,000 miles on it. I took it to a Meineke place for an oil change and I was told that I should (not need - no noise) replace the timing chain. I have either used Mobil 1 15W-50 synthetic oil or Castrop 5W-50 the entire life of the car. What to y’all think? Do I need to replace it or is Meineke just looking to make $2000+? Thank you

OEM timing equipment is HOT garbage on the 6th gen.

If its not making a peep at any point in time then everything is actually fine (for now).

In my personal experience you have warning clicks and rattles before the tensioners and guides calls it quits and cause real damage.

So pay very close attention to any noises on startup, especially cold starts.

If you're close to Houston I can overhaul the motor for 800 + parts (look around 1500 total) *shameless plug*

If OEM are garbage, who makes good ones?
Mine started the death rattle this weekend after an oil change (of all things), so I'm getting things lined up to replace the tensioners, water pump, and probably the chains.

You must purchase the oem timing equipment for a 03-06 350z (non rev-up for 05/06 years)

It's not the same (It's sad) and it's cheaper and better made (Even sadder).

Thank you. Does the entire engine need to be removed? Are there any after market parts that are better? I want to keep mine because it is the 6 speed stick shift. Manual transmissions in decent size sedans are becoming extinct

Wow, why would they do that? Is there a comprehensive list somewhere of parts one needs to do the job? Also, are the 350z stock parts the way to go, or are aftermarket fine?
