Hi, I have an 07 Maxima with about 89,000 miles. A week or so ago it started making a strange tapping/clicking noise and periodically while driving the oil light will flicker on the dash. The noise is quite loud when first starting the car but as soon as I start driving it quiets down considerably. From inside the car it almost sounds like it's coming from under the dash/behind the glove box. I have no clue what the problem is! I checked the oil thinking maybe it was low but the dipstick said it was over full. So I drained about half of a quart out and started the car only to find the low oil light on. So I added almost a quart back and the oil light shut off and hasn't flickered at all. After adding that fresh quart of oil the tapping/clicking noise has quieted some but has not completely gone away. Anyone have any ideas/advice?

 

Did you check the oil when it was cold?

 

Yes the engine was cold.
