Transmission not shifting at all after filter and fluid Change.

(2007 NISSAN MAXIMA SL) So today I drained my transmissions fluid then dropped the pan and replaced the filter and put new transmission fluid in. When I went to warm it up to check fluid hot, I tried to change gears and nothing was happening. It’s not shifting what do ever. Does anybody have any suggestions on what I could have done wrong. Please help.

Drop the pan and see what is up. Since you were in there, I suspect that is where the issue is.

If the filter is not oem, it's probably out of dimension. Wash and replace the old filter if you can't find an oem filter.

This happens if you cut the e electrical harness on the engine mount close to the firewall: blow fuse.

check the fuse

plug out the “shift cover” at the base of the shifter, and release clip. If it works from this try, then it’s the fuse.

can’t see why you would however blow fuse if you did a simple drain…

hola back

As I’ve inquired previously in your duplicate thread … your 2007 is a CVT vehicle or no?

I appreciate the replies! Yes it is a CVT transmission. @Turbobink I went to o Reilly’s today to compare my old filter with the new one I bought to see if there was any difference, and the new filter definitely has a deeper filter nozzle. It is also not a OEM filter. @Costee I also checked the fuses and everything was good. @Les7311 I plan on dropping pan tomorrow and looking there, and also put the old filter back on to see if that does anything. Old filter is good as new after a slight clean.

I’m expecting that the issue has to do with the filter or perhaps an oversight in the filter install/connect.

I’m no authority when it comes to the CVTs, but based on those things using a hydraulic fluid in their operation, their ‘proper’ operation requires appropriate fluid pressure. Point being … ensure that all connections/insertions are snug/tight.

It was the filter!!

Today after dropping pan and removing filter; I could see the new filter was bent inwards. It was basically crushed, the nozzle was too deep and smushed against my pan when pan was bolted back up. I put the old filter back on and it worked good as new. I’m glad that’s all it was and there was no other damage. I took a picture of the filters side by side but unfortunately it won’t let me upload it. I appreciate the help, this website is a life saver

Now, that the crisis has been averted, you also changed the external filter as well, right?
