I was talking about body style, the exterior look, IRS, interior and CVT have nothing to do with the body style. The only reason the IRS was removed after the 3rd gen was money issues, otherwise i believe that it would have always had an IRS. And for interior i dont think im seeing a resemblance anyway.
2007

2009

looks totally redesigned to me.
Also i find your stats on the sales interesting, can you point me to where you got those figures, because last i remember was when it first came out in 04 it bombed hardcore in sales even though nissan as a whole that year was up slightly. I know it always outsells the competition usually, but i would like to read up on the sales for all maximas.
SoundMike:
the bumber does have some resemblances but the rear end overall is very different. And for 4door coupe (stupidest name ever) I think that the front end has a nice mean look but i dont think it gives off acoupe feel, especially because its so heavy.
I wonder what kind of torque steer this thing will have now that its pushing 290 hp...
well, at least its better than the 6x gen series IMO.. thats about all I have to say. functionality wise the cars seem to be getting so much better and have progressed a long way.
But as far as exterior styling, I really have no idea what direction they're trying to take.. maybe I accidentally formed a permanent liking for the 4th and 5th Gens, to me they still represent the best looking cars when modded.
To each his own though.

Camry-like frumpy profile and butt, microwaved Ford LTD-inspired front, but still better looking than the misguided 6G. But bringing back that tired '4DSC' logo on a tail dragger? Again? Please...can hardly keep the boogers down from LOL.
'Sides, Nissan ALREADY makes one of those, anyways...called the Infiniti G35.

It is very clear that monoblocks did not look very closely at the rear of the '09. 'Camry-like?' Could not be more wrong. Either he didn't look at the '09 Maxima, or he has never seen the rear of a Camry.
I won't waste server space posting the rear views of those two vehicles on the ORG yet another time, but anyone who has read all the '09 Maxima threads here has seen those two photos plastered here side-by-side several times, and the difference is profound, especially along the lower portion, where the Maxima features a sculptured aerodynamic lip where the Camry looks like a codger without his dentures.
Put another way, I think the rear of the '09 is more appealing than the rear of my beloved '04 SL, and very clearly more striking than the rear of my '00 SE.
And the '09 Maxima is a 'tail-dragger?' That being declared before the car has even been tested by the car mags, much less by anyone here? I smell a rat. It is very easy (and meaningless) to pan something cold-turkey, quite another to pan something after you have driven it for an extended period.
We will know very soon just how far off-base the performance-panners of the '09 Maxima are. For me, the slalom times and road-handling will be very important, and, having read of all the chassi changes for the '09, I expect a very nice handling Maxima.

You. Heidi Klum, Elle MacPhereson, and Naomi Campbell. So it is 4P.

Make NO decisions on this '09 Maxima until you have seen it close-up in person. When you are right beside it, walking around and looking at it from all angles, it looks noticably different than it does in photos. I have never seen a car that looks more different when standing beside it than it does in photos.
