Unless you upgraded the wheels you prolly have 18" NOT 19"...the 19s only come with the Sport Package NOT Premium. Just sayin

i wanted to order from the factory because i saw some people having issues with the seat rails and the seat moving. By ordering the car and it being built 2 weeks ago , hopefully this and other issues were resolved..
Yes i will be anxious over the next week
Mine is in the compound at the port where they are delivered. My dealer is flatdecking it out for me and it should be here ... tomorrow we hope. The waiting gets worse the closer it gets.

Hopefully my next post in this thread will be the feedback on what I think about the car!

In my car, I didn't want the extra light up there, but it was not an option - I didn't have to instruct them to remove it, they just did. I think it looks better with one or the other, not both (operational or not).

My dealer won't remove it ... I've asked them and they leave that light intact and I think it looks hella tacky since it will be deactivated...

I'm going to pressure them on it

i will take some pics tomorrow and post. i would certainly put the pressure on them to remove it. the spoiler package that my dealer ordered to install came with the carpeted plate to cover over the hole.

That's great to know. I'm going to make sure they at least show me the kit. They might be scrimping on labour time simply because they are only making $300 on the car.

I FINALLY picked up my new Max today, and when they installed the spoiler they put the carpeted plate cover over the hole as well. They said that is definitely part of the kit and installation.

Bought mine 2 wks ago

Bought a Tuscan Sun SV with cold package and Bluetooth March 11 because it was the best value for the money they wanted. I traded in my 2005 Daytona Blue 350Z for it. The Z is a sweet ride, but it is not a vacation car like the wife and I need since our old traveling vacation car is approaching 95,000 miles. I also started a new job with an A&E firm that requires short travel runs to a job site with other engineers and designers and the Z was too snall. In a couple of years when I start Jonesin' for a sports car again, I have already told her I am going to buy a 370Z (or whatever it is called then) and she can have the Mazima.

As far as ride and handling, the Maxima is excellent. Have only been on 200 mile round-trip so far, but it is a cruising smooth ride on the interstate. It is nowhere near broken in since I only drive 11 miles round trip to work, but it has enough power for what I need it for. So far, I am got about 23 MPG for the trip and city driving. I can see getting 28+ MPG going to the beach in June. I am looking forward to being able to let the engine breath and to see how it runs above 4000 RPM.

ccragan - Welcome to the OGR! You chose wisely as far as getting a really great vacation car. We can carry everything but the kitchen sink in our '09 Maxima. We also found that the '09 Premium with 45 profile tires rides just as smoothly as our '04 SL with 55 profile tires. And that was with 35 psi in all four tires with both vehicles. The '09 seems to be better controlled on bad roads, and definitely has a MUCH sharper turning radius than our '04.

I love the Tuscan Sun, and would have seriously considered getting that color, except for the unbearable heat down here in the south, where summer seemingly lasts forever. So we opted for Winter Frost (white). I have seen Tuscan Sun '09s on dealer lots around here since late last June, but that is the only color I have yet to see on the road.

Hope to see you here on the ORG on a regular basis.

just bought my 09 super black/charcoal SV w/ premium & technology packages, floor mats, splash guards, and spoiler on friday. i traded in my 05 smoke/tan SL w/ nav.

initial impressions... man, it's a looker in black. holy cow. i've still yet to see another 09 on the road.

i've only put on about 100 miles since then and have noticed 2 quirks that simply may be specific to my vehicle:

1) auto-up on all the windows does not work. auto-down works fine, but i have to hold the button manually for it to go up.

2) my 4th gen ipod gets disconnected after an unspecified amount of time (4 songs, 10 songs... always random). then it connects about 10 seconds later and picks up where the song left off. - gonna try it with my iphone 3g to see if it does the same thing or not.

other than that, i'm really digging the xm radio, the dual moonroofs, the nav w/ traffic, the cvt...

i can't wait to bring her on her first road trip in june.

how is everybody doing, first post i came over from camaro5 forum, i recently purchased a new 09 maxima. I had put a pre-order on a 2010 Camaro and after months of getting jerked around by me dealer not knowing when i was getting the car, or if i would even get it i decided to go car shopping looked around, don't flame me here but i was totally thinking it was your typical 4 door sedan when my friend told me to go check out the new maxima he said i would not be disappointed....keep in mind i didnt know it was the new model so when i saw it i was more then impressed, but when i drove it*SOLD* i bought it right after i drove it. called my chevy dealer and got my deposit back, I've had it for a few weeks now got it a few days after my 21st Bday, and yesterday i decided to get up in it for the first time and pushed it to 130MPH, probably the most fun i've ever had driving this car.

PS for some reason it wont let me insert the pics i have....any other way to get them in besides the insert image?

I've had my Maxima for a couple of months now and now that it's broken in, I'm really, really loving this car. It has more get up and go than I ever thought could get up and go. I love this car to pieces. It's powerful, smooth, beautiful (people actually stare at this car as I drive by). This car is amazing and I am so glad that I spent the money for it. It was worth every dime.

I recommend that you get one, if you can.

Purchased mine in January. Super black/black, premium pkg.

First Nissan ever owned, and I am quite impressed. Choice was between a BMW 5 series and Maxima, but in terms of value -- no contest. Feels almost as smooth as a 5-series but without the extra $$$$ and aggravation. LOL

The only gripe I have with it is the engine noise. I read somewhere that Nissan intentionally designed it to "pipe" in engine noise, so the driver can "feel" the car more. If that is true, then *thumbsdown*. Otherwise, an excellent car. Looks great (not a cookie cutter car), handles very well and as I stated, just feels like a good value.

Purchased mine last july, but had to wait until end of september for the tuscan sun color. I love it. Best max that I had so far. I was very close in getting subraru legacy. I would have liked it, but in hindsight it would have been too small. Glad that the maxima came out in nick of time.

going on 7 months now and only 3K miles but its one AWESOME car...it's so smooth, so comfortable, handles great, accelerates great...it's just a really good value. I see some incentives out there which make it an even better deal...I'd test drive it before buying anything more expensive.

3K miles in SEVEN months? When will your spouse allow you to take this baby further than the end of the driveway?

Bought a new Maxima Saturday

Newbie here. I bought a new Maxima Saturday. Pick it up this afternoon. Blue SV Sport w/Frost. It's my first Nissan. (I've driven GM for the last 15 years.)

I've already talked to an installer about interior mods. Going to add an AVIC Z3 for Navigation, to start with.

It's awesome to have a place like this to come for information.

Actually, I only have 3K in 4 months (my wife and I travel together every day, and rotate between vehicles), and I am glad to see I'm not the only person here that didn't go wild driving their new '09 all day every day the first few months. I must admit I give my '09 a very long look every time we pull out of the garage in another vehicle. I love my '09 Maxima.

I was teasing mls277. For all I know, he/she may live in an NYC skyscraper and only drive the car on Saturdays. Or live on the island of Tiree in the Inner Hebrides, which is only a few miles long.

Telecommuting was destined to be the 'commute of the future' from the time PCs were developed. But it is very difficult for some companies to make the transition. There are job positions not very suitable for telecommuting, and where jobs are suitable, there are some companies too set in their ways to do make the change.

Well, gotta run; time to work some more on creating a baffle to reduce the wind noise created by these new VentVisor rain guards.

My first post in this forum. I am leasing the 09 Maxima SV with Premium since August 2008. Color is frost white. The dual moonroof contrasts with that color beautifully. Its a very nice car and probably the best value for the money. In 9 months, I have about 6100 miles on it and getting 23.5-23.7 mpg in mixed city/hwy driving. That is, I think, is very reasonable for a 290 hp car. The CVT is very responsive and smooth. The shape of the car looks so sexy. Interior fit anf finish is very nice, not a single squeak or rattle in my 9 months. If I were to buy a car today, the 09 Maxima would be the first in my list.

Now the sad part of the story. I leased this car within the first week of its introduction. I felt so attracted at first sight that I could not help but lease it. As a result, I did not get any rebates/incentives and my monthly lease payments are incredibly high. I have made those high payments for the past 9 months but do not want to do that for another 30 months (lease is for 39 months). So I am thinking of trading in this car for something else. I will lose a few thousand dollars in the process but if I continue on the lease, I feel I will be losing a bit more. It will be very sad to see such a beautiful car go.

Can't u just buy out your lease and keep that same car? I think it costs alittle more to do it that way but i though that was a possible option. I may be wrong.

My buyout price is $32740 + 6% tax + TTL = $35000 or maybe a little more. I can buy a brand new Maxima exactly the same as mine for $32500 OTD. So I will be losing something like $2500, if I consider the two cars -- my Maxima and the new one -- to be the same which they are not because my car is 9 months old with 6k miles on it.

But that is not the end of it. My Maxima is now considered a used car, so the interest rate that I can manage on a car loan will be about 2%-2.5% higher than what I can manage on a new car.

For example, assuming optimistic numbers:
$35000 @ 6.5% apr for 60 months will amount to $41089 ($685/mo with $0 down)
$32500 @ 4.5% apr for 60 months will amount to $36354 ($606/mo with $0 down)

So, I will lose about $4700 over 60 months which is very close to what I might be losing if I continue the lease.

The option that I was considering is to trade in the Maxima and buy a car that will hold better value than the Maxima and is having good incentives now. I came across two of them -- Infiniti EX35 and BMW 5 series. I checked with a few Infiniti and BMW dealers and can get at most $28k for my trade. That is, taking a loss of $4740 (buyout is $32740) which is again very close to what I might be losing if I continue the lease.

So I might end up continuing the lease and try hard to forget the losses

Dead battery 5 times since I bought the car new in Sept ....Maxima 09

I bought my car new in Sept 08 and since that time I've had to call auto club 5 times to jump the car because of a dead battery.
I've had it to the dealer 2x. The first time they said that the battery cables were loose.
The second time they removed a gadget that was put on the car to save battery juice in case you left a light on and the battery drained.
The dealer said that that should fix the problem....NOT

It happened again today....I was stranded and had to call AAA again.
The triple A guy said that the battery was so drained that he couldn't use the smaller battery portable battery that they bring to your car. He had to connect the battery to his truck to get enought juice.
It seems that even if I left every door open and all the lights on it doesn't seem like it should be completly drained in such a short amount of time. (2 hours) Auto club said that maybe it's the alternator??

Any idea's? I'm really ready to dump this car. 5 Auto club visits and 2 dealer visits and it's getting old.

Thumbs up Just picked up my new Max last night.....

Love the car, it's a vast improvement over my 04 SL. Couldn't resist the deals out there! purchased a SV - black/ charcoal, with Nav, Music box, dual glass tops, Back up camera, all the bells and whistles. Have to say the technology pack is amazing feature - just makes the car pure fun!! Had a busy day down loading music to the 10gig hard drive. Paddle shifters are cool feature when you're in a sporting mood. Seats are very comfortable. Car has power everything; with excellent Blue tooth system.
Handling is good so far...haven't pushed the car yet (only have 115Mi still on break in period). I'm old school, like to take it easy for the 1st 500mi or so. besides, my C6 05 vette is the one I use when I have the need for speed.
Maxima has real style now, not cookie cutter lexus copy, like so many others out there. A real lot of car for the money. Very sporting for the young at heart who like a peppy sports sedan.

List was $39,460.00+/- : dealer dropped price by $4500.00 off MSRP, and gave me $8500. for my Maxima 04 with 111K. (trade was in prestine cond.) Got a low finance rate too for 60 mo.! Took 100K warranty for only $1020.00 extra over 5 years. (will they be in business to honor it?? I think so).
GOT TO LOVE IT!

This is the first situation exactly like this we have had reported here with the '09.

Unless you are using your Bose to entertain at parties and picnics with the motor not running, you clearly have a short somewhere. This has reached the 'unacceptable' point, and you are now justified in taking this car to the dealer and telling him he has one more chance to fix the problem before you fill out paperwork to declare this car an official 'lemon', and demand in writing that Nissan replace it with a new one.

Be sure and save all your paperwork, dates of dealer visits, etc. Sounds like you have a classic lemon law situation.

Migoldstein and Richus - Welcome to the ORG! I hope each of you has only great experiences with your '09 Maxima. I absolutely love mine.

It seems that, after a winter when '09 Maximas (and most every make) were not moving off dealer lots, things are beginning to change. During the winter, I was lucky to see one other '09 on the road each day (and I live close to a big Nissan dealer). The past few weeks, I have probably averaged seeing from two to four '09 Maximas on the road each day. Things are looking up. At least for the '09 Maxima.

Dealer replaced the battery....

Light on the hill...thanks for that. I have dates of all the visits from Auto club plus the receipts for the dealer visits. (of course there was no charge as I'm still under warranty)

The car (2009 Maxima w/sport package, dark grey with black interior anyone else noticed the pink stitching? I love it but I'm a gal...not sure what the boys think) was at the dealer all day yesterday on some type of machine to check the strength of the battery, alternator etc. At the end of the day the service rep called me and said that the battery had 4 bad cells which I guess is enough to cause the problems that I've been having. (?) what do I know? They replaced the battery and said that if it happens again I shouldn't call AAA to have it jumped, I should call them to have it towed in so that they can figure out what the problem is. How much hassel is that?!!!
If it happens again, I may be done with this car. I bought it because I wanted a reliable car and so far that hasn't panned out. I had a 1998 Lexus that I bought new (ES300) and never had a minutes aggravation with it....I love japanese cars but this car has been a disappointment although I do love all the gizmos and the way it looks and drives.
I hated the interior on the new ES as it's, red, literally...the wood is red. Ugly!

I picked it up today and I love the car.

Pros:
You can adjust the car to any seating you want. This is really key for someone who drives as much as I do.
The IPod integration is fantastic. It clearly reads all the data, the menu movement is slick and very intuitive.
I like the working of the Bluetooth although I wish it downloaded my phonebook. It answers calls easily and switches to and from the IPod very quickly.
The car handles very well. There is no torque steer no matter how aggressively I drove it. It is definitely a front wheel drive car; however, it's a close to performing as a rear wheel/all wheel car that I have driven. I love how well it handles. The added rigidity really helps the car handle.
The interior is so comfortable and classy. It isn't a Lexus but imo it's close enough.
The dual moonroofs are just great. Everyone has loved them.
I just love using the paddle shifters when going around riverbends or passing through traffic.
I love the look of the car in person; it's 20X better than in the photos. Pictures just don't show how aggressive and yet well rounded the car is.

Cons
The tires. They cause the passenger seat to shake a bit at about 70mph however it is not shaking in the steering wheel nor do I feel it in my seat. If it was a balance issue it would shake the car; it doesn't. I believe this is a tire issue. They corner great mind you so they help sell the car; however, they are a bit stiff. Mind you, they didn't shake on better roads or at 120mph.. oops

Overall
To me this car is a gem so far. It's a diamond in the rough as the saying goes. It has an aggressive G35 look, a comfortable M35 interior, and a Nissan sticker price. It handles great even for a front wheel drive. And finally the technical and extra features are great.

Hope this helps.

I have owned nothing but Maximas since October 1984, and have never had a trauma like you are going through. If the problem was indeed a bad battery, your dealer should have detected that very early on. I hope this new battery does solve your problem, but be aware that repeated total draining of a battery (as has happened with your original one) can actually damage a battery, and cause cells to go bad.

We will keep our fingers crossed.

As to the pink stitching, I think Nissan had a name other than 'pink' for it, but I have forgotten what it was. I'm sure it wasn't fuscia or rose. As for guys maybe not liking pink stitching, that could be the case with some. Doesn't bother me in the least. I have several pink shirts. Pink would not be my first choice for an exterior color for a car, but I would have no trouble driving a pink car. I never worry about what is 'macho'; life is too short to be overly concerned about things like that.

I'm glad that they replaced the battery knowing what you've just told me.

I'm going to wash it this weekend and leave the radio on in the process and see if it conks out again as it has before....
