VERY DISAPPOINTED.. the fools in the detail dept didn't even wash the damn car before "detailing"... how the hell are you going to see flaws if the car isn't clean to begin with?
I'm with you-- I have yet to find a decent Nissan dealership service department. Hubler Nissan in Indianapolis, Indiana, is the absolute worst for both sales & service. My new dealer is great with sales but chincy & annoying on the service side. Still looking for someplace decent...

As for the vehicle, my previous 2008 Maxima had one issue with the driver's door handle button. Service experience was a hassle, but after that it ran perfectly for 2½ years (until I spun it off the highway & totaled it in a ditch). I am pleased with Nissan's overall quality and surprised by the mechanical or electrical issues you may have. I would expect that once fixed you should be good to go.

My 2010 Maxima SV Sport is awesome! I hope yours will be, too, soon. (More than a month later, and I still haven't received a 2nd key to the vehicle...dealers & service again!! Oh well...)

So what do you guys think about the dual sunroof in the SV Luxury? Did I make a mistake by sticking with the Sport and a moonroof that still opens all the way?

I like my dual moonroof, but at the end of the day, the only people that really enjoy the second one are the people sitting in the backseat.

2010 SV Sport W/Tech. This is my second Maxima. I had a 2008 and was a member here, but my old ID seems to be gone. I sold it to send my wife to college, but I was able to get a new one this weekend.

It's awesome. I like it much better than my 08.

I like my dual panel roof, but have also liked the regular moonroofs of past Maximas. I would guess the regular
moonroof offers less chance of problems.

For me, the roof did not enter the equation. I had to have the SV Premium for the dozens of other goodies that
come only with it. I love the individual air conditioning/heating inside the driver's seat. I use the power sunscreen
on the back window. I use the auto-up/down on the rear windows, especially during warm weather. The premium
mood lighting is nice at night. The 7" color monitor is very nice. The rear seat radio and air conditioning controls are nice.

I could not drive this car without the rear view camera, as the normal view to the rear is very poor. Most important
of all, my wife and I take lots of long freeway trips, and the less-firm ride of the Premium makes for more comfortable trips.

The Sport is equivalent to the SE in earlier gens. I loved my 2000 SE; it would turn on a dime and leave 9 cents change. But it was
rather firm on long trips, especially since I carry 36 psi in the tires. But I loved it anyway. Not one problem the 5 years I owned it.

In truth, the Sport wheels and tires look nicer, and you can't go wrong with either.

For sure, definitely worth it. Plus, I like this one much more than my '08, so it all worked out.

Yes, I love my SV Sport but did consider switching over to the SV Premium. Then I discovered that you still cannot get anything but black seats with the Ocean Gray exterior. It certainly is a cool color (see my pic below). But I thought maybe it would take getting the Premium package to let me pair it with the tan interior (not so hot in the sun!)

Actually, I would have a paid probably too much extra to get a lighter baby blue exterior paint and a lighter, cream-colored leather for the interior. Hope that is an option someday in the future..

I want to say that after much praise about the Max I have been let down. This was MY first new car and after only 3k miles I have spent more hours at the dealer than on the street. The car has great features but the little problems make me nuts. I really cant wait till the year end sale to try and flip this one out for a 2011. That is if nissan picks up the slack and find solutions not fixes for the issues.

I am puzzled as to why most 7th gen owners have few if any problems with their car
(mine is still perfect after 18 months), but those that do have problems seem to have several,
and seem to get few permanent fixes from their dealer. It is almost as if every fourth or fifth
car down the assembly line has been either jinxed or sabotaged.

Just got one.

Hello Guys,

Yesterday, I went to talk to my friend at Nissan Maroone and to make a long story short, I traded in my 2007 350Z touring for a brand new White 2010 Maxima SV with premium and tech package along with some other nice options.

I am extremely pleased with this car, it has everything you can dream of and I think I need to take a few college courses to get to learn everything it can do (I wonder if it also serves coffee??)

Anyway, great car, great quality. What a leap from my 350Z.

Nice first post. I hope you continue to be as happy with your white Premium + Tech SV
as I have been with my white Premium + Tech SV for 18 months as of July 7th. I am
still finding features I didn't know this baby had.

Tomorrow will be one week with my first Maxima. Man do I love this car...can't say enough good things about it. My only complaint would be the stock stereo in the S. It sounds okay but I wish I could have the Bose. Other than that this car is an absolute blast to drive. I'm amazed at the performance. I can honestly say I'm hooked on the Maxima.

Really enjoying mine

I started with a black car with a few options but after seeing Crimson Black and really liking the wood trim I decided to work a deal with my dealer and am now in a Premium. Except for gas mileage that hope will get a lot better I am really loving the car.

2010 Maxima 3.5 SV Premium pros & cons

I've had my 2010 Maxima SV+Premium for three weeks today. After looking at all the color options in person (the brochure gives very innaccurate impressions of color, IMO), I chose the Winter Frost with Charcoal Leather. I'm in Florida, where dark interiors are usually not a good idea. But I have to admit the AC in this thing is intense and cools off very quickly, even with the Moonroof "shades" retracted. My other car is a 2003 Infiniti G35, which I love and still own. I considered another G, but the exterior styling hasn't changed much in 8 years (my G was built in June of '02). I had the same feeling about the interior -- the dash was different but the rest seemed very familiar -- TOO familiar. The Maxima styling really surprised me -- love the sheetmetal and the interior was much nicer than I expected. For me, the biggest adjustment has been going back to front wheel drive. The G35 handles great and feels much sportier. I'm still getting used to the "torque steer" on the Maxima, and the CVT as well. I go back and forth between "D" and "Ds." I can say at this point that the regular "D" isn't for me, for stop and go city driving. It wants to stay at around 1000 rpm and feels "strained," like it needs to downshift and won't. Go to Ds and it will, downshift and you'll see your RPMs go more into the 2K range. I did talk to a service tech about this type of driving, and it is indeed by design that it stays in the 1000 rpm range in D -- for better mileage. As for problems -- my rear headliner rattled. It was annoying for me, and I have hearing issues -- drove my girlfriend crazy. I was able to stop it with two pieces of rubber sealing strip, each tucked under the rear edge, about a foot from center. The other was that the car pulled to the right, and required a constant light pressure to the left to maintain a straight line. I saw my long-time Nissan specialist mechanics and asked if they thought rotating the tires was worth a try, and they agreed. This fixed the "pull." But I just took the Max on a 120 mile trip yesterday, much at 70 mph -- and I was very disappointed to find that the car didn't really want to track straight -- it felt like it constantly required tiny inputs left or right just to go straight. Keep in mind, I have already had two highway trips with the Max not noticing this, and my comparison is an 8-year old Infiniti G35 with brand new Bridgestone tires. And yes, tire pressures are checked and OK. Another way to describe how this has felt, is if it's a gusty day (it wasn't) or if you had 300 lbs. of luggage in the trunk (I didn't). My suspicion is that there is some issue with the tires. I'm not sure what I'm going to try next. I'd start a thread, but I don't have 15 posts yet. Has anybody else had issues with the steering at highway speeds? So, between the torque steer, odd feel of the CVT, and this steering issue, I have had at least a small bit of remorse that I didn't investigate the new G37 more. On the plus side, I love looking at this car, and feel quite comfortable inside. I think the ride is great and the handling very nice.

I can't speak for everyone, but your steering issue can't be normal. My car is almost at 3,000 miles and it was just on a 10 hour road trip with no steering issues, vibrations, rattles, or any other problem.

When test driving a number of 2010 Maximas most seemed perfect, but I did notice that some had very noticeable torque steer while others had none at all. One even had a weird audible vibration that could be felt on the steering wheel and accelerator, as if a motor mount was loose.

With any luck your dealer should be able to fix your issues.

If this were an alignment problem, the situation should not have been changed by simply rotating tires. Since rotating the tires DID
change things, I suspect you may have an issue with one of your tires, but it can be difficult to know which one.

It is also possible you could have a warped or out-of-round wheel, but I would think tires first. You should be able to let the car almost
steer itself on flat straight roads. Something is amiss.

Welcome! I too am on the camaro5 board, I bought a Camaro SS last year, I like it, don't love it. I am now in the market to add a Maxima to the stable, I test drove one last year and absolutely loved it.

i feel your pain. my earlier posts explains about my horror.
speaking of which, i've purchased 2010 maxima s on june 2 of this year. didn't even make a damn payment on it yet and i've taken it to the service dept numerous times. i took the car in AGAIN a few weeks ago because the passenger airbag light would come on and off with passenger riding and when nobody was riding and because my auto lights wouldn't work (would remain on even during the day). the tech spent HOURS trying to figure out why the headlights would remain on even when bright out. turns out, it was my license plate that i have mounted on the dash which was blocking one of the sensors.. REALLY NOW? a nissan certified tech couldn't figure that crap out? i think they need to go back for some extra training. to make matters worse, as they were pulling my car out from the service dept area, another vehicle backed into mine and f*cked up my passenger side starting from the front wheel base to where the rear door ends. most of the damage was in between the front and rear passenger doors. had to take the car in to get it repaired. i put 900 miles on the damn car in the past month and a half and i think it has spent more time at the service dept than me actually driving it. i got a free tint job out of it. whoopty doo! my cars tainted now.. it is no longer "new" youngblood nissan in springfield, missouri i loathe you!

Exactly. This 7th gen Maxima is a very fine car, but many of Nissan's dealer service departments are typical of most non-luxury
make service departments: disappointing. I feel lucky to have two very good Nissan service departments near where I live.

Since that is your first post, welcome to Maxima.org. Glad you have a helpful dealer; that
will make a big difference with any problems you may encounter.

Bought a 2010 Max SV with sport and tech package. (love it). Coming from a BMW 328 xi. Thats why I when with the sport package instead of the premium. The handling is alittle better and the 19" wheels look amazing on this car. Just a few reasons why I didn't opt for the premium. 1. I have a 5 yr. old and soon to add anther and the rear AC / radio controls seemed to tempting to him. 2. The sports better handling and bigger wheels. 3. The dual moon roof is nice but the rear doesn't open and the closure for it is just cloth (one poke hole and cha-ching). Not bashing just pointing out some things if anyone is in between the too. Love the car, the BMW interior is horrific and the Maxima is the best I sat in. (Acura came in second in my opinion) Will there is my 2 cents. I'll try to get some pics up soon.

Just picked one up on July 4th...I've only got 400 miles on it...So far, i'm loving it. But definitely nothing like my 5th gen maxima se...Only slightly disappointed that i was forced to buy an automatic but other than that i'm very satisfied.

So far, no problems.

The car currently has about 1500 miles on it, since it was purchased on July 3rd. And everything still feels solid. Handles nice. 30+mpg highway.

I only wish the brakes are better on this car; seems like the car cant handle too much left foot braking on twisty roads.

Got my new fully Loaded Maxima '10 SV Premium/Tech ~34k.

So far, I LOVE IT. Trading up from a 2008 Value Package G6 its a beast. Within an hour I was able to figure the Info System out, all the buttons etc. Everything seems intuitive (Except the turn signal, when i hit it at times I sometimes flick the lights from auto to off etc which is a pain). Being that I'm a techy for a living the amount of gadgets and features are something I love .

The only thing I have an issue with which was mentioned earlier is my car SEEMS to be pulling ever so slightly to the right. Now I live in NYC so it may simpyl be the bumps and uneven road thats doing this, I need to take it out to the highway this weekend to see if thats a true issue.

My new concerns though (as this is my real first car, the G6 was a lease i really didn't care much for) what type of gas should I put in? What type of oil is best? I Don't want to spend obscene amounts but I can see my self with this car for at least 3 years if not 5 and want to maintain it nicely. Any pro-tips would be appreciated!
