I have a 2011 SV with tech package. I now have 4500 miles on the max. Love this car. It is the best vehicle i have owned. Drove a 2000 Toy 4 runner before this and i will never go back. The max is an unbelieveable ride with luxury and sport all in one. Owned a 95 300z in college and this thing brings back old memories. Totally luv the max!!

After looking at the pics and hearing she walked away "unhurt", I think this would be a pretty good testament to the safety factor. WOW, just wow.

I love my Ocean Grey Maxima. I have two things that make no sense.

One is the Cruise Control. Turn it on and you get "Cruise" on the display lit. When you actually engage the Cruise Control it doesn't change color or anything to let you know it's engaged. Every other car I've had with CC that light comes on when I actually engage the CC. I don't mind the light coming on when I activate the CC but it should at least change color to let you know it's actually engaged.

Two is the Nav System. My Garmin has auto zoom for the display. When I get up to highway speeds it automatically zooms out and likewise when I slow down it will automatically zoom in. This of course gives you more highway detail at highway speeds and more street detail at 25mph. Nav on the Maxima doesn't do that. You either have to zoom in or out manually or do what I did and split the screen, one side zoomed in and one side zoomed out.

How hard would have been to have both of these things done from scratch? It's just common sense.

Got my 2011 crimson black max two months ago, after test driving many cars such as vw gti, vw cc, g37 and the new charger. I pulled the trigger and got the max, it felt right in every aspect.

Loved the front seats, seating position, cvt trans is very good when Cruising, Bose sound system, handling and offcourse the looks

In other side I felt the cars interior is not well isolated, wind and tire noise are more pronounced after 50mph. Also when having two or more passengers in the back seat it sags alot! Otherwise I loved the car and enjoying it just like u guys

My previous cars always had two lights for CC as you suggested. Another light that is missing is a fog light on indicator light.

I was looking originally for an SV with Premium and Tech Package. I have seen many attractively priced cars WITHOUT the premium package, but with Tech, Monitor, Cold, etc. added to the SV.

It looks like I would lose some features like Paddle Shifters, some interior trim upgrades, etc.

Is there an opinion on the value of the items I would lose? I know its hard to judge and its a personal preference. Just looking for some insight from those that have used it daily.

Thank you.
I have Tech/Prem package and with it I get heating steering wheel dual sun roof, high grade leather, Music Box audio hard drive, etc. I love the features.

I missed that. I haven't used the fog lights much so I didn't notice that. Nice observation.

As a follow up I installed my Garmin GPS using the air vent mount I saw somewhere in this blog. I don't know if there is a firmware upgrade that would address the lack of auto zoom in the factory nav but it's very annoying to me. Probably because I'm used to the Garmin that it's a bigger issue for me. I haven't noticed anyone else complain about it.

And the over-exaggerated rear haunches truly make the styling of this car. Controversial though it might be, if you are one who likes the styling, you truly love it.[/quote]

The rear haunches are what intially attracted me to the MAX. Saw one in a parking lot and knew it would be my next car!

2 weeks old 2012 Maxima

Just purchased 2012 Max with premium package, slate grey.
Like car so far but need to get use to Bose system with speakers in dash, center speaker seems distracting to stereo imaging. I will install a sub woofer in trunk Saturday and will try to fade speakers more toward rear.

One thing I'm not sure is normal, but is the instrument panel suppose to be lit during daytime driving when headlight are in off position? I'm talking of main display behind steering wheel, (meters, guages, tachometer etc...
Mine display is lit while daytime driving

Headlights/tail stay on in daytime, switch set at auto

I have a 2012 Maxima and have headlights set on auto. In the morning when I start car, the headlights stay on. This is 7:00 am and the sun is up. I became aware of this when I noticed on the instrument panel that the headlight icon was lit. I verified when I arrived at work and check lights on outside of car, rear and front lights were on. Note, lights shut off when ignition is turned off after the normal delay. Also my car doesn't have day running headlights, I believe this is on the Canadian cars.

Thanks

the headlight sensor must be blocked or covered. it is located under the front passenger side of the windshield right next to the speaker.

I will check that, but there is nothing on the dash as I remember. But you are saying that your lights turn off in the daytime when set in the auto mode correct?

Thanks

Fading the sound back to the rear, just a bit, does makes the Bose system sound better.

Here is my setup for the Bose system (with everything starting from the middle): Bass -1, Treble +1, Balance 0, Rear +1. This setup sounds good when listening to acoustic rock/folk. It also does pretty well with electronic type music, such as trance or drum and bass. I had to find a balance somewhere.

I have had my 2009 SV Sport for 10 days and all i can say is LOVING IT. Its a big change from my spec v and similar in odd ways to my previous maximas. i get lots of compliments on it from the people at work. It feels like I am driving a lot more expensive car than what it really is. I am still get used to its size compared to my spec v but at the same time i love the size. I am getting the underside rust proofed because winter sucks hear...sorry for the horrible pic..it gets dark here before i even leave work. need a weekend photoshoot.

Yes, I discovered the option to set the sensitivity of the headlights while reading the manual last night. Strange that the dealer didn't even know about this adjustment option when I called them. I set sensitivity to a little past the mid point, originally they were set much lower. The lights do go off in the daytime hours now. Similar to your lights, mine do come on when in a shaded area in the day, but I feel better knowing that there is not a defect in my Maxima.

Next step is Subwoofer install this Saturday.

Thanks for all input.

I am not sure what high or low sensitivity means. Does high mean the lights come on ealier in the evening? Or does it just mean that they won't go out if you go under an overpass?

high means they come on easier like just when the sun starts setting or on a cloudy day i think.

Ok, I have owned the car for almost 2 weeks now and I have come up with a few things I think will only make the car better. These are not complaints by any means. I am averaging 23.7 mpg so far and I have only had to fill up the car once so far. I am just under a half a tank of gas.

Ok so here they are:

to scroll through the information window on the dash, they should put a button on the end of the turn signal stalk and not just button behind the steering wheel. This allows you to easily scroll through options.

The second is to move the heated seat controls a bit further away from the center console. This will allow easier access.

The last thing and I think it might be an issue with my car that I am going to get looked at tomorrow. When you start the car the climate control should come back on at the last setting that it was on when the car was last turned off.

Other than that, I would change NOTHING! I love this car

That happened to me when I got my Max in July. Everytime I start my car, the climate control would reset and wouldn't resume the previous settings. Brought it to the dealer and it was a quick fix. They told me it was just a fuse. Only took them 5 mins tops.

Ya I got that issue too where it always resets to just the feet when turning on the climate control.. You said it was a fuse that they changed?

The fix for the climate control not keeping

So I took it in this morning, it was what I thought. The car was still in the "storage mode". The main symptom that made me think that is that the remote key buttons didn't work on either key. Also when I started the car, both turn signals would stay on solid, not blink for about 1-2 min. I had sat down for about 2 min (just enough for them to pull my car in) when the guys was like, we're done! He said that to take it out of storage mode, you hold down the turn signal and wiper stalks at the same time for about 2 seconds and it puts it in normal mode. Now my climate controls are saved when I go to start the car again. Apparently this storage mode is created to have minimal battery draw while the car is in transport or storage.

My car wasn't in storage mode. Everything worked properly (remote key, remote start, etc...) expect the climate control. They changed the fuse like I said. I guess your scenario is different from mine.

I hate this car!!!

OMG I should have just gotten a Sentra LOL. I only have an 8 mile commute to and from work and I hate that I can't drive this car more! Every time I get in the car I want to take a trip so that I can be in hte car longer. I even sit in the car when I get to work and listen to the radio for a minute just so I can get more seat time lol. It just isn't fair that I am only in the car for 12-15 min. After they fixed my key issue (the car was still in storage mode) I really don't have any complaints about the car. My commute is so tame I am even getting 23.7 mpg . I want a long windy road and warm weather to really wind this car out.

I got mine with 18k miles about a month and a half ago. Black on black. Sport Package, Tech Package, every option except the dual moonroof. My old car was an 03 WRX.

I am LOVING everything about the maxima.

We got the 2012 Maxima, super black with the sport package & monitor package. We love the car, very sporty & fast. My only complaint is that the monitor is not in HD. It is not very vibrant like my TV at home! They need to do a better job with that but no other complaints.
