I've had mine for a few weeks now and have put 1000 miles on it. Not a single complaint. I love this car and couldn't be happier!

so im down to the 09 Maxima and the 09 g37. obviously the Max will be a little less money, and the g37 will be with more horsepower, but i'm all about the features. I LOVE the cooled seat on the Maxima. if the 09 g37 doesn't have it, I'll be a Max owner. thoughts or suggestions?

Just depends on whether you are interested in roomy, plush, very spirited transportation with all the bells and whistles and lots of room for family and friends, or a somewhat cramped sports car to travel fast and light. Both are excellent vehicles.

No brainer for me, but everyone's situation is different.

i'm strongly leaning towards the Max because of the fully loaded list of features. I can't get that stuff in an infiniti. at least not in the 08. and not for anywhere near the price. I will wait and see what the 09 g37 looks like, but its most likely a Max for me.

You get everything the Max offers except cooled driver seat, heated steering wheel, rear window shade, dual panel sunroof, and rear HVAC controls, all which are only found on the Premium edition. Other than that the G37 offers the same gadgets as the Sport edition and lesser models. So unless you are buying the Premium edition, the G37 will have everything the Maxima has to offer. By the way the 09 G37 will not change, as far as looks, unless your talking about the G37 sedan.

max vs g37

yeah, I do want the premium package if i go with the max, mainly for the cooled front seat. the big question for me will be if the g37 has a cooled front seat. then i will have to come up with extra coin...I'm happy with the max, but i don't need the dual sunroof, and the rear shade. so it would different looks and the lux look of the dash controls and gauges.

My opinions.

1. Comfort and convenience. VERY nice.
2. Design and options. Nice.

My drawback. This car has caused me to be LATE many, many times now. I've been "cornered" at the library, grocery store, Walmart, Best Buy, dealership, work, out dining (and some places more than once) with folks asking about the car, wanting to check it out, look at the interior, ask about specs, etc. This car DOES attract attention. Even the boss (my fiance) was shocked at the amt. of attention it receives!

I've noticed some looks on the road but I haven't been asked about it much. It really is a sweet car. I love the sport package and I'm glad I opted for it. This really is one hell of a car. I can't wait to take a road trip.

The G37 does not offer a cooled driver seat. As far as the dash controls they are almost identical to the Max's. The gauges are better looking than the Max's though. But both in my opinion both are lux looking. (well entry level lux for the Max) I too am debating between the two, I dont think we can lose either way.

agree- can't go wrong!

I just read last night in the infinti forum that the new G will not have cooled seats. I think the color on the gauges looks cooler, and I like that metal trim. But agree, they really are similar, and I think edge goes to the maxima because of the extra features. Cooled seat, heated steering wheel. Very cozy to drive that thing!!! I think my mind is 99% made up! I can't wait!

NLens have you driven one or seen it in person yet? The maxima? That was the deciding day for me. I got out of the car after researching it for months and when I saw it with sport package I was sure...the Infinity is great too though and supposedly even nicer...but go see both before you decide!

Nice rides people. This gen is growin on me.

Whats with these 20"s. Most of them look pathetic, and the brakes look like civic brakes when you do this...Not to mention its more expensive, heavier, rougher ride, bent rims are more common etc. 19"s are as high as I would go.

Agreed!!

Sometimes it attracts too much attention, I was driving down the street the other day and this nice looking blond in a Benz driving on the passenger side of me starts pointing down at my car to her passenger (2 other girls) and she starts blowing her horn and continued pointing, so I got nervous because I thought something was wrong with my car and then I pulled over because she kept pointing at what looked to me like the back of my car as though something was on it or hanging out or something.

Anyway, after I pull over she pulls up behind me and starts asking me a bunch of questions about the car and then she hit on me, talking about sex appeal, I couldn't believe that had just happened.

Has anyone noticed if their hood has a slight textured feel to it? I washed and waxed mine this weekend and noticed that the hood still felt like it had a dirt feel on it and this was even after I waxed it. The rest of the car feels smooth like glass but the hood just doesn't feel the same way. I do know they are using an aluminum hood but is this causing that feel.

And is there a reason to use the aluminum hood besides the weight difference?

No, I hadn't. But I shouldn't have to since it is brand new. Maybe I will go to the dealership and compare it to the other ones on the lot.

Well, it did have to travel on a truck a bit, and sit on a dealers lot. Also, I never trust the dealer to 'detail' my car. Even after I got it home, on my second day I washed it and gave it a total waxing. I know and trust my products, and even trust my "detailer". hahaha I don't know the $10/hr kid in the back who's doing work for the dealership. They could be washing it with Tide or something, never know. Try a claybar but nothing harsher, tho I agree, you shouldn't have to but never know.

That is a very fair deal. You are getting the 'Premium' package and Tech package (loaded car) at a price right at invoice. It is possible that, in these really difficult times, you could shop around some more and find a really desperate dealer who might go a little lower, but not by much.

As a comparison, your deal is almost exactly what I have offered my dealer for the same Premium and Tech car (except white), and he (actually 'she') hasn't bitten yet. But I am stubborn, and they have known that for fifteen years. They will come around soon.

Congrats on procuring your loaded (and very beautiful) '09 Maxima at a good price!

Light,
When I was pricing the Maxima on Edmunds, I came up with $34,976 as the car invoice. (SV Premium + Tech + mats + splash guards + trunk organizer + destination charge). SV Sport with same packages is $34,325.

Now I understand that there are different invoice prices, the dealer has the one and only true invoice, but regardless the above prices are a good starting point.

So, 35800 sounds like 824 over invoice. I am not saying the car is not worth it, just trying to get clarification.
thanks,
Max

Yes, that is way too much to pay for this car. When I do purchase mine next March, I'm definitely going to try to find a dealer who will bite at $33,500. I would shop around.

Thanks for the above responds.

i do have floor mats and splash gaurds inclded in this price.no rear spoiler.

I see a lot of posts sayin 34.500 is a good deal. I will try to negotiate more with my dealer. I have to wait for 3 weeks for "super black or dark slate with permium/tech package and interior prem charcoal". the dealer says no other dealer has this int/ext color options with this package. How about you guys ?

Thanks

I went down to 2 dealerships today, here is the best offer I was given.

I trade my 07 Maxima in w/ 3 pymts of 466 left on the lease, I put down 1300 cash, I walk out paying $529.00 a month for 09 SV with sport + tech (navi) package. 39 months 15k yr.

Right now I have 30k on my car, 2yr lease with 15k a month. If I wait till the end of my lease I am probably going to be over 4500 miles approx which equals to about $675.00 which the dealer might eat, but i am not sure what kind of lease deals they will have.
Plus I will be making 1398 in remaining pymts.

I was also considering the sport w/out tech package, but it would only save me like 25-30 a month.

I really wanted to be @ 450 a month with sport & 500 with navi & sport, but these guys are not budging. I have been dealing with them since Saturday.

Do you guys think this is a good deal? How much are you guys paying for lease with same options?

maxud - Holy cow! I read arunsoft2k's offer as $35,000. Having 20/800 vision is really catching up with me. I think what caused me to miss the 8 is that $35,000 is exactly what I tentatively have on the table with my dealer for a white '09 Maxima equipped the same way as aurnsoft2k's, and I would definitely try to not go above that for this particular car.

There may be two types of invoices, but the one I was working from is the same as you (maxud) have. I was careful to go just a teensy tad above invoice with my offer, just to avoid my salesperson having the psychological angst of selling below invoice.

Maxud - Thanks a bunch for catching this. I wouldn't want arunsoft2K billing me for the $800 he would later feel I cost him.

arunsoft2k - The combos you are looking for are very popular. There are 23 Nissan dealers within less than a hundred miles of Atlanta, and I was sure most of these dealers would have what you described. I only checked the three dealers nearest me, and here is what I found:

Nissan of Union City: TWO dark slate with premium & tech, premium charcoal interior, first one's VIN serial is 823635.

Nissan South: One super black with premium & tech, premium charcoal interior, VIN serial is 806420. One dark slate with premium and tech, premium charcoal interior, VIN serial is 809871.

Team Nissan of Lithia Springs: One dark slate with premium and tech, premium charcoal interior, VIN serial is 805599. One super black with premium and tech, premium charcoal interior, VIN serial is 819358.

These three dealers are not among the biggest in the Atlanta area. Each of these three has only a few dozen '09 Maximas on hand. There are dealers around here with between 50 and 75 '09 Maximas on their lot. I would bet I could find three or four dozen vehicles equipped exactly as you want in the Atlanta metro area.

If I were you, I would go to www.nissan.com, use the inquiry that lets you find dealers in your area (the inquiry window lets you specify how many miles away you wish to limit your search), then check the Maximas in the inventory of the dealers closest to you. Note that the vehicle inquiry response only shows five vehicles per page; there is a little box where you can tell it to display up to 20 vehicles per page. I use that option every time.

Dealers around Atlanta will swap cars with other fairly close dealers in order to get exactly the vehicle the customer wants. Dealers in your area should do the same. Good luck with your search.

Light,
I did look thru there couple of dealers around 10 to 20 miles away did have a super black or dark slate with premium package. each had one vehicle with same options. I called up my dealer to see if they can swap one for me.

My dealer was kinda right. I looked up all dealers in 20 miles range.no one had dark slate/super black with prem/tech interior charcoal.I can find hardly couple of them after digging for 45 minutes.
Thanks for your help.

O.K. I went to one of the dealer who had the options and colors I wanted.
found a super black - prem/tech - int premium charcoal

after comparing the price with my other dealer - he offered me a 34,850 + tax. Which is almost $1000 less from my other dealer.

so I wanted to check the car. guess what - it had 4400 miles on it already. Its a demo car and the executive was driving it for I dont know how long.may be 4 months.

m not feelin good with this 4K miles on it. and the dealer is about 30 minute drive from my home. The other one is just 5 min. not a big deal..but you know...

what you guys think ?

If I was you, to keep the same odometer and circumference, I would go with a light 8-8.5 inch wide wheel (forged if possible). The bolt pattern should be 5 X 114.3. The tire size should be 245/35/20. The offset should be +40mm to +50mm.

+40mm will give you the best look and will most likely not rub. Next choice would be +45mm offset. To play it really safe go with a +50mm offset altho I wouldn't.

Be sure to get hubcentric rings with your wheels to minimize the chance of vibrations. Tires are HUGE in terms of ride quality & performance. Don't skimp on the tires.

You can't go wrong with Toyo Proxies. You may even consider (if you have 8.5 inch wide wheels) going to 255/35/20's. The odemeter will be slightly off, but you'll have more meat on the road-and a slightly more wheelwell filling situation.

Me what would I do? 8.5 inch forged 20" wheels with a offset of +40 to +45mm. Then throw on some 255/35/20 Toyo Proxies. Think about spokes that go to the outer portion of the wheel to get the maximum oversizing effect. My favorite of course is a 5 spoke wheel or variations there of (such as the ones on my car--double 5 spoke).

m not feelin good with this 4K miles on it. and the dealer is about 30 minute drive from my home. The other one is just 5 min. not a big deal..but you know...

what you guys think ?
Your message sounded great until you mention the car has 4400 miles on it. Technically it is not a new car anymore. It is a used car. Now think about the new car depriciation as you drive it off the lot. Can you turn around and sell it for new car invoice? No way in hell. I would personally never buy this car, it makes no sense.
If you like the car, negotiate like hell. I would say that it should be couple of grand under invoice.
Alternatively, be patient. Send 5-10 dealers around you your specs and your offering price. With the state of economy today and particularly car sales industry, you will get your car in no time!
good luck

^ I can't argue with maxud's analysis. For that kind of mileage already on the odo, I would have to get a clearly better price than he offered. The thing that would worry me most is not knowing how this car was driven during those thousands of miles. The first thousand miles are particularly inportant, because that is the 'breakin' period, during which it should be driven with some care.

I get the feeling the dealers near you are not each stocking three or four dozen '09 Maximas. A limited inventory can make things tougher. But this is important enough that you should not 'settle'; hold out for what you REALLY want. That will make you happier down the road.

Without a 6sp it's just another pile of nissan poo. I would only consider the 7th gen if it had a 6sp.
