Thanks man... I made several calls to the dealership and kept talking about prices I'd seen, misc websites, the bad experiences I had with a couple of other dealerships and kept getting the price lower. It didn't hurt that it was the end of the year too.

How would end of the year (2012) effect pricing on a 2013 car ?

One of the last possible sales of the year for the dealership. Therefore, they are typically a little more motivated.

If you don't mind me asking what's your sales tax, my buddy is a nissan manager in CT and says that price is well below invoice

Below invoice is exactly what a local dealer said when I talked to them about purchasing a similar vehicle from their lot. Their best price was $37.5K. I believe the sales tax was 4 1/2%.

So what did you pay before tax, reg, etc . What dealer did you use. I have a 14 day return no questions asked and may use it and call your dealer and use it to negotiate price

I do not recall the price before tax, title, fees, etc... I've always negotiated OTD as some dealers will just keep tacking stuff on at the end.

Still on the hunt for my max. Anyway I realize this isn't a price paid since I'm still looking, but would you pass on the vehicle below? Price seemed much lower for prem/nav compared to others in my area, but then I saw on the carfax that the engine has already been replaced(at 32k) and the 2nd owner dumped it after 8 months. Of course the salesman says "oh there's nothing wrong he traded it in for a newer model". Will likely pass, just wanted a 2nd opinion.

Some states don't have car taxes and some that do have you pay it after you buy the car directly to the city you live in and sometimes months later

I forgot about the $400 I paid for registration up front so now I feel better.

I was kicking myself because cars direct always has great prices and I never expected them to beat it on my car so when they did I was like ok. My final price also has $239 for 5 year tire/wheel warranty
Which is why I do my homework before going to purchase any new car. I know what they're going to tag on at the end for tax, title, fees, etc... makes it easier to haggle one price instead of them "nickel and diming" you.

EXACTLY! The more information you have in your head (or in a folder) the better off you will be. You need to be able to argue every aspect of the purchase (price of car, trade in, finances, warranty's, etc.). The dealer is going to try and recoup any money you think you're saving on one front by back loading another.

And practice makes perfect. Visit as many dealers as you can ... even the ones you have no interest in. The more comfortable you are speaking with salesmen, managers, and finance guys the best deal you will find.

13MaximaSV - Seems to me that you got a pretty good deal anyways, so why sweat it? Inevitably you're gonna find people who got better deals than you no sense in second guessing yourself. I guess next time, don't bother with the extras. You don't need a 5 yr tire/wheel warranty.

All I am trying to say ( as stated above) is different states have different sales tax and registration fees so the price before tax/fees is the only way you can compare prices from one state to another. I realize you don't have it handy and I'm not saying you have to post it but it didn't click right away that my out the door price in your state ( reduced sales tax and no up front $400 reg fee paid to the state) would have been quite a bit lower and vice versa if you bought in MN yours would have been higher. It's all good,

I bent 3 wheels on my Infiniti and had to have them fixed/replaced costiing me well over $1300 and I am a very careful driver so if you live in an area like MN where we have pot holes all over $230 for a 5 year tire and wheel warranty is well worth it especially as 18 wheels bend easy

See Below for people bending Max wheels

Well the county I reside in has a much higher sales tax than the county in which I purchased my Maxima... Another reason I have purchased my last 4 vehicles there.

You must have diffferent laws there. Everyplace I have lived the sales tax was paid where the car was registered not where it was bought

If the sales tax is not paid when you purchase the vehicle, then you do have to pay the sales tax in the county you reside when registering said vehicle. Again, why I purchased where I did.

I'm reading about Alabama sales tax, odd. It seems everyone would buy a car in the 4% tax area and then register it wherever if there is no additional tax

Do you have car taxes /registration fees that are paid each year ?

Where I live in CT a new Max would be about $1000 a year in local property taxes.........every year, going down slighly year over year.

Ended up purchasing 2010 SV with tech and premium, 21k miles for $25.5. Cpo and 5 months of the original warranty left. Not a steal by any means, but happy with the car so far.

I am surprised by the number of people buying recent year Maxima's when you can get a new 2012 for $10K below list price. Even 2013 are heavily discounted with incentives and you should be able to buy a new one with over $8k below list.

I just bought an 09' fully loaded (unsure of package name) for $20k. It has 51k miles on it and is in really nice shape.
I'm loving it except I can't get better than 21mpg hwy and the 0-40mph range is a bit weaker than I'm used to (IS 350 previously)

Great Price, did you pick it up the week the total rebates were $4500 instead of $3500 ?

Crimson has been a much harder color to take care of than I though........Next car will not be any sort of Black color, lol

Picking up my new Max later today. I am leasing and have been going back and forth with some dealers around town and finally reached a deal on Saturday.

Silver SV Sport w/ Illuminated Kick Plates, Splash Guards and Mats
MSRP - $39,735
Agreed upon price before rebates - $34,700 (around $1700 under invoice)

Very happy to be picking up a Max after driving around a Regal Turbo for the last couple years.

My wife's lease was up and she decided she wanted my JX as her daily driver, I was free to get the vehicle of my choice and I landed an amazing deal on a 2013 Maxima w/ Sport Pkg, Tech Pkg, Illuminated Kick Plates, and Under Car Lighting. Sticker was just over $42,000, got the dealer down to $33,000! Awesome ride, I love the combination of interior space and awesome power along with the features I am used to in our Infiniti models.

Looking to buy a Maxima today

still going back and forth with the internet sales dept ( I haven't even looked at the car in person--LOL) but looks like my best price will be 29,900 plus tax, title, plates and doc fee 395.00...New 2013 Super Black Maxima with sport package and splash guards.....Nissan has some great incentives totaling 4850.00 on this model if you finance with NMAC....5550.00 if you add in the Tech package but not a single one in my state with both the sport and tech package....bummer, because they are essentially throwing in the tech package for free...wish me luck and hope to be back on the forum with some photos.....on a side note,
the new Altima with similar options (V6, leather) is about 5k less than the Maxima!!! heck of a deal but I just like the Maxima looks & style much more

Been lurking for almost six months. Bought a new 2013 end of last year for $35,000. Includes sport & tech package and some nonsense the dealer threw in for "free" like the splash guards, illuminated kick plates, and the under car lighting. Every time I make the payment on it I kinda regret buying it but every time I see it I think "Nah it's worth it."

Edit: Just got the windows tinted today so it's the perfect time for a first post.
