If the roof is the double panel style (instead of the standard sunroof), it has the Premium package. If it has the navigation feature, 7" color touch screen, and music box (disk storage for over a hundred hours of music loaded from CDs), it has the Technology package.

If it has both those, then it is top-of-the-line loaded, had an original MSRP around $39,600, and $28.5 is a reasonable price.

But do as I suggested earlier: DO NOT buy the car until you grab a Maxima brochure and determine EXACTLY what options are on the car. Or at least check the car for yourself and determine what options are there. Until you know EXACTLY what is on the car, nobody here can tell you what the car might be worth.

Since I can't create a thread yet maybe I can get some help here.

Do any models not have chrome door handles and chrome trim around the windows? I don't mind having the window trim painted but i'm worried about the door handles...

Here's an engine pic of a DIFFERENT used one I am looking at. It has the sport and sport tech package along with some stillen aftermarket items.

Here's a picture of the cold air intake. I have not seen the car in person yet. Maybe next week. I am seeing what looks like some hard water deposits on the black part of the cold air intake and some water spots on the black cover below it to the left.

Why would these things have water spots on them?

Thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Idk this car might've been a beater, you should let a mechanic look at it, you dont want a car that someone pounded into the ground, bc your gonna have to deal with the problems they caused.

No prob buddy, I would ask questions, lots of questions, and take it to a mechanic, thats the msot important thing you can do. Ask yourself, would you put in performance enhancing components if you weren't gonna drive the car like that?

Any vehicle that has those types of MODS is used for what the MODS were created. If were planning on doing these mods yourself in the future then it wont be an issue as you will have had to experience them for yourself anyway. Make sure you ask for all original equipment back just in case you need to unload this thing at a dealership.

Question Reading a carfax report

Hi, does this look like it was a vehicle that had to be repurchased (lemon) by Nissan and sold at an auction.

What do you think? Stay away?

Thanks!

It could've been a repossesion. Most finance companies ell their cars at auction after repossesion. If it was a lemon it would be reflected in the title as a manufacturer buyback vehicle. Im not 100% sure but I think thats how it works.

don't usa laws require them to tell you it was a lemon??????I think that's why you send a lot of your lemons to Mexico and Canada. Most Canadians are weary of buying any imported american used cars because of this.by the way the water spots could be from detailing the car, just spraying the dust off the engine.we all know how good a detail job the dealerships do!!!!!

I believe certain states are lax about it, so dealerships will ship it to other states to get around the lemon status.

I would love to hear from someone who has experience with this.

Thanks.

I have the same problem. I drive from Arkansas to Sarasota Florida. Yahoo and my garmin showed about 988 miles I used the gps in my 2009 nissan maxima it took about 1100 miles I used the garmin going home. Next time I came back to Sarasota I turned both garmin and the nissan gps's on. The Garmin was missing several main Highways and that could be the problem have not talked with the dealer yet been on the road since I bought the car.

I made the same drive from Orlando to Ft Smith and found that the Maxima's GPS wasn't missing the roads, but rather chose to route around them. Rather than going all thru GA and then Kentucky to get to Arkansas (like the Max) I told it to route me via Birmingham and cut a few hundred miles off the trip!

Help! financing through the dealership question

Hi,

Can someone tell me if the dealership will make money if I finance a used car at the dealership and pay it off within 30 days?

I need to know so I can use it in my negotiation of the vehicle price.

Thank you.

Angry oil filter change?

How do you change the oil filter on a 7th generation maxima (2010)? I've searched all and read the "
Sticky: Installation Instructions / How-To's / FAQ's / Reviews / Recalls / Accessories " and i find no mention "oil change how-to" for 7 gen.

This is my second maxima and i love it, but when i finally found the oil filter it looked like it is going to be an extreme mess to change it.
Has anyone found a "How-To" for an oil filter change?
thanks

It's not that hard to change the filter. Get yourself a set of Rhino Ramps (or a reasonable facsimile thereof) and drive up on them. On the lower/right side of the engine (passanger side) you will see a shield with a strap using a fastener holding it to the frame. Remove the fastener and pull the shield to the side. I'm writing this from memory so bear with me. You may need to remove other fasteners to be able to pull it about four or five inches away. I then use the empty filter box to hold it out of the way. Get a piece of aluminum foil about one foot square and work it over the frame member below the filter and pull it down on both sides to protect it from getting oil on it when you remove the filter. Unscrew the filter partically to let some of the oil drain out and then totally remove it when most of the oil has drained. Check the filter once you have removed it to make sure the gasket stayed on the filter. Oil the gasket on the new filter and then screw it into place, make sure it is tight but not too tight as the gasket could be damaged. Remove the foil and put the shield back in place. It is really not that bad. When you back your Max off the ramps do so slowly as the vehicle can hit them if you go too fast. Somewhere on this forum there are photos of the procedure so search deeply.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question so well. I saw the straps but I was leary of removing them (wasn't sure how to remove them with out breaking them).

I'll look for the pictures, but i did search for about an hour before I posted my cry for help.. If I don't find the pics I'll try a screwdriver on the plastic rivet of the strap and will hope for the best.

Nissan wants $90 to change oil and filter using synthetic , bad for me good for them i guess.

I am retired BTW!
Thanks again,
Mike

Just be aware that the three Nissan dealers nearest me all use Shell 5W/30 dino oil on 7th gen Maximas without even bothering to ask the customer if he has a preference. The dino oil DOES meet all warranty requirements. I pay $29 for oil and filter change, except I often have a coupon from Nissan and pay between $19 and $22.

If you break the rivets ( I seem to recall a few 'self-changers' here did that), the dealer parts department should have replacements.

Three months. But some here found their XM was not cut off after three months. Mine was.

Sorry about that. You will receive many mailings and several phone calls over the next few months encouraging you to renew your subscription.

My wife and I are virtually always in the car together, and are either talking, listening to the Music Box, busy picking our way along unfamiliar roads and streets with the navi, or studying property of interest we are passing by, so our radio is used only for news headlines, and local stations carry that.

Hi. Just curious, does running an audio power wire from the front to the back of the car void the warranty?

I would call your local dealership and ask them. It helped clarify some questions I had.

My guess is it shouldn't.

Talking 2011 is now up on the Nissan Website

Hey guys:
I was just configuring a Maxima to search dealership inventory and I was surprised to see that the Maxima's I was configuring where actually 2011! More photos on the SV Sport are on the site too.

I'm looking to get the Premium over the Sport simply because I think I will want a softer suspension after my '07 Altima SE.

Can anyone tell me about those dual panel moonroofs? How is the reliability on these since they haven't been around that long? how is the functionality - i read that only the front can open and that the covering is more like a screen rather than a solid panel that is on the standard moonroofs.

ETA: Does anyone have a photo of the premium latte interior with the eucalyptus-wood tone trim? I'm curious to see what is looks like.

Steering wheel won't move

Hi I'm looking to buy an 09 maxima and it has a problem with the steering wheel. It makes a clicking noise and will not move, sounds like gears are clicking. I'm wondering if this is a problem with the 09 or if it is a one time thing(does this keep happening). Did they fix this with the 2010 or have any of you had the same problem with the new ones? I'm considering getting a 2010 anyway and would love to have some advice!

Thanks

Some '09 folks have had this issue, and have usually had the steering column replaced, If I recall correctly. Do a forum search on steering wheel to find related posts. I have not heard of it as an issue on the 2010's yet.
