Help! I'm new here and have a question....
This is part of the amber 'mood lighting' system that casts a very soft glow around the console area so that we can see where things are when driving at night. There are two other such lights behind the front door grips that cast a soft glow on the window switches and door lock (but not the door unlock).
The overhead light is recessed, and my advice would be to obtain a small rubber or plastic 'bumper' (normally used to put on the bottom of vases, modems, etc, to prevent scratching and/or sliding), cut it neatly in half, and mount half of it right up next to the left side of the light recess. That would be totally unnoticable, would prevent being able to see the light from the driver's seat, yet would allow the light to perform its intended chore of softly lighting the console. These bumpers are available almost everywhere - WalMart, Target, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

LED Lights
Hi. I'm new so I can't post threads so I obviously figured I would ask here. I don't know if someone may have asked this already but im kind of being lazy and don't want to look around. I just bought LED lights for my car and I wanted to know if anyone had also gotten them and knew how to insert the ones for the license plate lights. The rest of them were easy but i wasn't not certain how to remove the old light bulbs and get the new ones in. I'm 19 year old girl so I am somewhat clueless about some stuff
If someone could help it would be great !

Hello everyone
I am also new to this forum. Just bought a 2009 Maxima SV with sport and tech pks as a new ride for my wife. She still has her 2000 GLE, but will end up selling that one. This car is absolutly fantastic and we got it with only 11,000 miles on it. It looks factory new without a blemish. First Mods she wanted is new license plate frames and some door panel mouldings for the doors. Anyway looking forward to good information from the posters of this forum.

Download Saved Locations?
Does anyone know how to download the locations that you have stored on your navigation unit? I have a 2009 Max SVT. I'm thinking about a new vehicle and would like to transfer saved locations to new vehicle. One of the senior techs at my dealership didn't know how to do this and recommend that I contact Navteq. So, I contacted Navteq and they told me to contact the dealership.
Any thoughts?

Fog Lights
How did you get your fog lights to turn on without ur lights? i know someone mentioned replacing your regular lights with ur fog cable, but then when u turn the high beam on, the HID lights will turn off?
Is there an easier way to do it?

hi i just recently picked up a 2011 max sv w/ prem + tech with 19 miles on the odo. i drove it last night and noticed that the head lights were not shinning light evenly, the left seemed to shine slightly lower... which made me wonder if the car had been in an accident/ or slightly bumped in front. the paint looks fine on the bumper, but when looking next to the fog lights by the black plastic pieces looks like there may be over spray on there. i walked around my neighborhood looking at the paint on other maximas, some seemed to have the same blk pieces painted with the body color as well, but some seemed to have less of that 'over spray.' so i'm not sure if it's how they come from the factory or not, so i took some pics and would like to hear your opinions. thanks a lot, appreciate it.
btw i did skim this thread and searched on here/google, can't really say i found anything so i hope it hasn't been asked b4...

Newbie Question
Hey everyone, I am relatively new here as well, so please don't kill me. I think this is my 2nd or 3rd post since I became a member. I purchased a 2010 Dark Slate SV+Premium around March of last year (2010). The car runs like a dream, but the problem I have is I live in Brooklyn..lol so my car has a few dings on it. Hey it's all part of living in Brooklyn and not having a driveway. I am not sure if anyone has asked these questions before. 1st question is do the 2007 or 2008 rear bumpers fit on a 2009/2010 Maxima? my bumper has a good bit of scratches on it and I have gotten some pretty pricey quotes to fix it. My second questions is that some one broke my rear driver's side tail light, so I wanted to know if anyone knew a place I could get a replacement cheaper than the $288 + Tax Nissan charges?

I'm not familiar with the overspray situation, but when headlights are properly adjusted, in countries that drive on the right side of the road, the left headlight should always have the top portion of its beam blocked slightly lower than the right headlight. This is because the left headlight is shining almost directly into the eyes of the drivers of vehicles coming in the opposite direction.
This is covered somewhere in the Owner's Manual, where the proper headlight pattern is shown. These HIDs are very intense. I actually had the beam from both my headlights slightly lowered, as I was getting far too many oncoming drivers flashing their headlights at me to tell me my lights were too bright. That may have been caused by the fact I carry 37 psi in my front tires (where 60% of the weight of the car is), but 35 in my back tires. After slightly lowering the beams over two years ago, nobody has flashed me since.

Sorry, but no, the 2007/8 rear bumper does not fit the bodywork of the 2009/10/11 Maxima. The bumper has to fit exactly against the rear side panels, which are shaped differently, as well as around the bottom of the taillights and trunk, which are shaped slightly differently, and also around the top of the exhaust pipes, of which the '2007/08 has four smallish pipes, but the 2009/10/11 has two large pipes.

All Season tires on Maxima
Hey guys,
I'm wondering for those living in the northeast, are the all season tires on the Maxima that come stock sufficient for the Snow? The tire gets horrible reviews, not sure if I should look into winter tires and rims, or for ppl in NJ, the tires suffice?

I live in Boston which is admittedly much different in terms of snow levels than NJ, but these tires are almost useless here on anything but bone-dry pavement. Even then I'd only rate them as average. In my opinion they deserve all the bad reviews they get - reviewers on the Tire Rack rate them as the worst tires available in this size.
This is my 2nd 7th Gen, and on the first one I replaced the O.E. junk at 18k miles with expensive Michelins, which were worth every penny and completely changed the way the car drove in both wet and dry conditions. Then my brother totaled the car in an accident (not his fault) and I replaced it with an identical new one equipped with the Goodyears. I made it through last winter, but I'm sure I'll get rid of them before next November rather than risk another snow season with them. If we have a particularly wet summer, they'll be gone even before then b/c of their penchant for hydroplaning.

And also while I was at the dealer I looked at show room Maxima's bumpers by the fog lights, all the black plastic pieces had body paint on them. So makes me feel better, as the bumper looks like it came painted from the factory, and hasn't been repainted. I do find it weird that Nissan would paint their cars like that, people like me who are OCD, might look closely and say hey this looks repainted/been in an accident... But it is what it is, and the car is fvckin awesome.
This 7th gen Maxima is a willowy woman, and the overspray is Nissan's way of adding a touch of highlight to her hair.
As much as i love my car. I have two complaints or questions..
1. My cd changer sometimes automatically gets stuck and disply eject disc on it. I cannt switch discs until i press the eject button. All of my cds are mp3 cds. I took it to the dealer yesterday and they gave me some paper stating basically do not put in old/scratched cds. All my cds/cdr's/cdrw's are new so thats not the issue. What else could it be.
2. How do i go from engine on to acc mode without having to turn off the car and pressing the button again to turn acc mode on? I never thought about it until last night when i was talking to my wife in the car and when i hit the power button to turn off the engine, the radio stayed on? I had a wtf look on my face, like i didnt know i could do that. I just dont know what i did...

This is kind of a thread jack, but the 6th Gen doesn't have a post like this for some reason...
But I recently bought a 2004 Maxima 3.5SE 6-speed. It died on me one day, and I jumped it and it worked, and it kept working a few more times after that, but now it won't turn on at all.
The keyless entry no longer works, and when you use the key to open the door, nothing inside works. (The cigarette lighter, the dome lights, etc.). When the key is in the ignition, it makes a series of 4 beeps at a set period. When I turn the key, absolutely nothing. The security light is still blinking, however my remotes don't work, I assumed that unlocking the door with the key would turn off the alarm.
My positive power clamp that clamps onto the battery was severely corroded, and I replaced it. That didn't fix anything.
I checked every fuse for continuity in the whole car, and every fuse is working.
I'm at a complete loss.
Any help?

WINDSHIELD/FOG/DEFROSTER ISSUE - Just bought a 2011 Maxima S last week. Live in NY. Last night it was really hot and humid, was raining off and on. Condensation started building up across bottom of the exterior of windshield. I tried the defroster/ac/every mode with hot air and cold air, nothing worked, it actually made it get worse most of the time. I also got a car wash a few days ago if that matters. Curious if anyone is aware of this issue. I am wondering if there is a defect with my car. It is brand new so I am little concerned.
And, if the alt was bad, it'd still run off the power from the second car.
Yes, but if the car is connected VIA jumper cables to another car, the car should operate as per usual, since it's getting the proper power. I also used my DMM to check the voltage of the battery, and it was like 12.5+v. We also got it load tested at Autozone and it was good.
And, if the alt was bad, it'd still run off the power from the second car.

Hello Forum, Hoping someone can help me out. Maybe it's just me but I now have 3k on my '11 max and after driving home yesterday, I noticed a noise that sounded like a drive belt was loose. The engine was on and was idle, i popped the hood and it sound like it was coming from the middle of the engine bay and not where the belts are at. Any body else have this type of noise/issue? Thanks
Oh and I started her up this morning and the same noise was still there.

My headlights are on in my sig, you just couldnt see them lol. There is a way to do this mod, but u need to buy a switch, you cant do it with a splice like most other cars.
