ToroMax - Glad to hear things went well! Enjoy the ride, and let us know if any questions pop up that you can't find the answer to in the manual.

get ceramic tint. cheap tint is dyed and will turn purple and barely blocks the sun.
I concur. Check out Huper Optik or Formula One Pinnacle.

So i did some research on Huper Optik or Formula One Pinnacle Tint. They are both good ceramic tints but the F1 Pinnacle sounds better(from what i have been reading up on). Did some reviews and youtube'd a few examples. I found one that i really liked 30%fronts and 15%rears on a 2010 Maxi. Here is a quote that stuck to me while doing my research on the F1 tint

"F1 pinnacle 1 is the best tint hands down, makes a world of a difference with heat and doesn't interfere with electronics at all"

With a Charcoal Black Leather interior, i'll take any help i can get from the Sun.

Does anyone know how to keep the footwell lights on constantly? or how to wire it so that they stay on while the headlights are on?

Figured i would update you guys on the Tint. Got them done at a local place. Ended up getting 3M tint done on it, 30%Fronts 15%Backs and it looks a lot better! I ride a lot comfier! Feels more private and they did a good job on it. Talked to the owner and let him know them it was a 2011 so i told them there was no rush and to take as long as they would like. Came out good and the Familia loves it Price was more than fair+ the tip, and if something happens with the tint. They will redo it the 1st time no charge in writing+the lifetime it comes with.

I want replace my existing auto dimming rear view mirror with new one equipped with Homelink for garage openers. Mirror I have has 7-pin male connector with 2 wires connected to it. New mirror has 10-pin male connector on the back. My question: Where I can get 10-pin connector for my new mirror, and what about wiring. Probably I need supply constant power from battery for Homelink operation. Thanks for any help.

Key Fob/Lock Question - my new '11 Maxima. I lock the the car and sometimes find it unlocked when I get back to it. Does anybody else experience that?

Others here have had buttons accidentally pressed on their fob just by having it in their pocket and then sitting down or bending over. As info, with an unobstructed view, I can lock/unlock my '09 from over 300 feet away, so you could somehow be accidentally pressing the unlock button and unlocking the car from pretty far away, especially if you wear pants that are any tighter than 'relaxed fit.'

Many here on the org have purchased little rubber covers for their fob that cover all but the buttons, thus leaving the buttons sort of recessed. They say that reduces the accidental locking/unlocking/trunk opening. Maybe someone here will tell us where they ordered them.

Got ours from ebay. They seem to work ok. As we have two Nissans we ordered four, two for my Max and two for wifes Murano.

We might not get many responses here, since the '04 thru '08 Maximas are the 6th generation Maxima, and this is the 7th generation Maxima board. The 6th and 7th generation Maximas are totally different vehicles. The nose masks for the 7th gen Maxima would not come even close to fitting an '08 Maxima. Have you tried the 6th gen board?

HELP - Blackberry wont save contacts to vehicle phonebook

Hey fellas -

I'm looking for some help with my new 2011 Maxima SV. I've been trying to copy my contacts from my Blackberry Bold over to the vehicle's phonebook over bluetooth and everytime I try to do it, it seems like its working and completes but when I go into the vehicle's phonebook - it has no contacts. If I were to try for the second time, the same thing would happen but a third time, it would come back with an error stating 0 out of 1000 contacts space available and would have to turn off the car, turn it back just to try again and see it fail again.

The only way I was able to get one number stored was if I manually selected the contact from the nav screen and copied it. I want to be able to send all contacts to the car's phonebook instead of sitting there and going over 350+ contacts and copy them manually.

Anyone have the same issue or know what I might be doing wrong?

Disconnect the battery and wait 10-15 mintues... with the battery disconnected push the start button a couple times to ensure all of the power is out of the circuits...

If that doesnt work go to autozone and get the code read and report back!

Auto Shutoff for Headlights - Problem

Hello, my headlights will not always shutoff when set to auto on the switch.. kinda weird problem - daytime coming into garage headlights will come on and then shutoff after about 45 seconds. but when starting at night the lights come on and stay on after entering the garage. Killed my battery once already and have caught it 3 other times.

Is this a know issue for 2011 Maxima?

Where does this type of post go in this forum?

Thank You

With your car on, go to settings, comfort, then light off display. Change to the amount of time you want. If you set to 0 seconds. They should go immediatly once you open the driver door.

Is there a way to set it up so that the AC turns on automatically when I turn the car on? I live in Florida and it's pretty much guaranteed I'll have the AC running. Gets a little annoying having to turn it on each time I start the car.

Only thing i can think of is keep your a/c on when you turn your car off and get the viper remote start for your car. Then you can remote start your car and a/c will turn on, cooling it down before you get in....

Mine is just like Car Addict's. If I leave the AC on when I turn the car off, it is automatically on when I restart the car.

Mine doesn't seem to work like that. When I shut the car off with the AC on I always have to turn it back on whenever I start it again.

I actually have a similar question - my 2011 3.5SV prem/tech seems to be doing something really similar. I like to keep my vents set to re-circulating (with no AC on) instead of fresh air because when driving to work every morning and having to go through the battery tunnel - i dont want to inhale all the smog from the tunnel. I have to do this every time I turn on the car. Is there no way that I can have it set to always be in re-circulating?

Reply for Prism as well....

This is a problem within your fusebox (had the same issue when I bought mine). When the cars ship from the factory, they pull a "storage" fuse so that the battery doesnt die while sitting on the lot. Next time you go back to the dealership, tell them they need to take care of the storage fuse.

My maxima has incredibly stick foot plates in the door jams (not sure what they are called). These are the chrome looking plates on the bottom of the door jams that say Maxima.

Are these supposed to be sticky? Is there a protective plastic on top of these plates that Im supposed to remove? I dont want to try and scratch off a film if its not supposed to be removed.

Thanks buddy! I'm actually heading to the dealership on Tuesday because they need to adjust the rear left side of the bumper (not flush). When I got the car it was past 9.30pm and all I wanted to do was head home - so Tuesday when I get there I'll tell them about the fuse too! Thanks for the insight - will let you know if that fixes it!

Mine came with a sheet of clear protective plastic covering them. I peeled the plastic from the right front plate, then decided to leave the plastic on the other three so as to protect the fine finish on those plates. My wife and I are careful to never step on these plates, as they have a smooth aluminum finish which would definitely become scratched if we trampled on them.

I have not noticed the three pieces of plastic I left on the car being sticky, but then my car is almost never left outdoors or where smog, chemicals or weather can bother it. When this car is driven on wet or slushy roads, the road moisture absolutely gets inside the outer seals and reaches the sillplate area. But I have never driven on salt-treated roads. I can't imagine what salt-treated slush or melted snow might do to this plastic.

Can I do this or is it something the dealer needs to do?

I went to the dealer today and they quickly fixed the issue after I told them that it might be a storage fuse or switch. I'm leaning more towards a switch around the foot area on the drivers side because they never opened my hood to get to the fuse box.

New 2011 SV owner here. What is that deal with that red light up near the moon roof button? I read the book and they are calling it a Console Light. Very annoying since I am tall and it is in my peripheral vision. Any way to shut that off? I can always just put a piece of tape over it I guess. Does it serve any purpose other than telling you the lights are on? Thanks

Are you referring to the soft orange light that gives a slight illumination to the center console? If that's what you're referring to then it's the ambient lighting. I'm not sure if you can turn it off though.

This is part of the amber 'mood lighting' system that casts a very soft glow around the console area so that we can see where things are when driving at night. There are two other such lights behind the front door grips that cast a soft glow on the window switches and door lock (but not the door unlock).

The overhead light is recessed, and my advice would be to obtain a small rubber or plastic 'bumper' (normally used to put on the bottom of vases, modems, etc, to prevent scratching and/or sliding), cut it neatly in half, and mount half of it right up next to the left side of the light recess. That would be totally unnoticable, would prevent being able to see the light from the driver's seat, yet would allow the light to perform its intended chore of softly lighting the console. These bumpers are available almost everywhere - WalMart, Target, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.
