I think most people try for a +35 offset with a 8.5 wheel, so a +38 offset would fit fine, and you won't need spacers.

Can anyone tell me why my all my windows roll down after pressing(not holding) the button on the door handle once? This happens about 1/4 of the time I go to unlock my car, and it makes it harder to stay dry when my girl is chasing me down with a super soaker...

I'm not sure it has anything to do with the button on the door as much as it does on your key fob. It is more likely that your button is being pushed on the fob....not uncommon for a lot of the folks here. Mine seems to vary between the horn, trunk and the windows rolling down depending on what else I have in my pockets! Many have reported some success with key fob "condoms" or covers that mitigate a lot of the false presses while in your pocket.

Thx Ltleary, I'll see if I can duplicate it with the fob in my hand. I'd hate for my trunk to pop while I'm away from the car then end up opening while I'm driving.

09' SV w/Sports package

I'm looking at getting a 2009 SV that supposedly comes with a sports package from a dealer in my area. From what I understand the sports package namely includes 19" wheels and sports suspension but the car has 18" wheels on it. I wanted to know if there was any other of finding out whether the car actually has a sports package so I can have some leverage when negotiating, such as VIN number or if it should be in the manual/literature that comes with the car.

Just look inside, if there is a black trim on the center console isntead of silver, its not a sport, also look for paddle shifters, that clearly denotes Sport. Look for the telescoping steering wheel ****, on the steering wheel, Memeory seat buttons on the drivers door.

If it is the Nav doing this, it should be pretty consistently "dinging" at the same location. Otherwise, I would follow Light's advice and get it to the service department.
I found a setting on my navigation that would turn on/off an alert when you were supposed to make a turn or change directions. It was set to "on", so hopefully by turnign that off it takes care of the "dinging". It's been 5 days and haven't heard a ding yet!

My sport was like this too, must be common for people to sell their used sport Max's with 18's on them...kind of annoying.

For it to be sport look for the following : tap shifters, silver interior, HID headlights, memory buttons for seats, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, a rear seat that doesnt fold down but has a little pass-through hole, and leather seats. Taken from Edmunds - http://www.edmunds.com/nissan/maxima/2009/

Thanks for the info. I think it actually has a sports package. I made an offer but they were not trying to budge much. Hopefully 2012s will come out soon so they have to make room.... I'm betting they call me back before the week is up

Yup, the "key sleeves" help a lot. Have a black one for my keys and it was worth it to me. Only thing is if its on then you cant put it inside the key compartment in the car. Go it from Nissan and it fits like a key fob "condom"

Hi guys/gals I have been lurking this site for the past week and until then wasn't even contemplating a maxima. Then I went and test drove a 09 s w/ 26k and i must say I really like it. It was a rental car according to autocheck but i am currently taking it on an overnight test drive and i must say I am very impressed. I think I'm going in tomorrow to talk numbers they are asking 22998. I'm definitely not paying that hopefully. This will be a huge upgrade from my 98 accord coupe. (never had a car payment and i'll be 28 this year) My question is what do you all think is a good number to throw at the dealer?

I need help! I am new here and I am a chick who knows nothing about cars.
I have 3 Questions.

1-I have a Maxima '04 lately it has trouble starting but when it does it runs OK, I was told it might be the spark plugs, as the battery seems to be ok. Your thoughts?

2-The other day a black plastic fell out from he bottom of the car in the highway, what is this part called? I need to get it ASAP right?

3-When should the Timing Belt be changed? my car has 91k miles.
I know I sound ignorant but if I knew the answers I wouldn't ask.
Thank you gentlemen.

Sorry for a pretty lame question, but I'm looking at a 2011 SV with premium and think I've found one with everything - except the spoiler. Can I get one after-market? I believe I saw a post somewhere where somebody said they were heading to the dealer to get the spoiler installed. That would really help me out with vehicle selection if I can just add a spoiler to any one I purchase! Thanks.

The spoiler is standard only on the SV with Sports package, but that same spoiler can be added to any 7th gen Maxima. Many here have done it, and there are instructions somewhere in the stickies at the top of the 7th gen board. Many have also had their dealer add the spoiler to their car.

The Maxima spoiler kit comes with a little panel used to cover the hole in the rear parcel shelf, because part of the installation of the spoiler is the removal of the existing parcel shelf high mounted brake light. Some folks install the spoiler and do not remove the high mounted brake light.

There wil be plenty of folks here who can give you more detail on this, such as how many holes need to be drilled, etc.

I have had my '09 Maxima over two and a half years, and to start it, I tap the Start button, immediately pulling my hand back and the car cranks itself, with the engine starting within one second or so after the cranking begins. This has never changed in two and a half years.

I don't recall seeing anyone else here mention a delay in the engine starting once cranking begins.

Mercy! Half this board has been consumed with fuel question threads for the last three years. There is no answer. Or, to be more specific, there are around 5,000 answers, or however many posters we have here.

Most here use Premium. Midgrade also works very well. A few here use regular, but most board member here frown on putting regular fuel in their Maxima. I certainly have never done that.

Nissan says the recommended fuel is 91 octane, which is halfway between the 93 found in premium in many parts of the country, and the 89 found in midgrade almost everywhere. I would urge using major brand gasoline.

If you really want to dig into this fuel morass, there are always a few endless threads arguing which fuel to use scattered around this board.

A question about the HID's. Coming from an older Lexus, my HID's had auto-leveling. Does the Max have this?

Navigation for mileage tracking?

Hi all,

I had a Maxima as a rental car for about two weeks (for work). Well, I was looking to purchase new and really enjoyed the way the maxima drove. sooo... I am a

New owner of an 11 sv sport - black on black, monitor, nav, yada yada yada. My question is: Can I use the navigation system to track my travel / mileage that meet fed mileage guidelines??? I'm looking everywhere, doing searches and I can't quite find the answer. I was hoping it would track it so I didn't have to do it on the phone or in a binder. You know, enter destination, drive, get to destination and add note and reason for trip and it saves the info for later. Then... I want to get an export of my travel from xx date to yy date. Is it possible?

Thanks,
Mitch

Need some help. I purchased a 2009 maxima sv at a hyundai dealer(girlfriends brother is the gen. Sales manager there). The finance guy sold me a warranty and said it was a nissan warranty but the paper says Fidelity warranty services on the bottom. Could this be possible? I'm considering canceling and getting a refund and then getting one directly from nissan. What warranties from nissan would be eligible for; I have a 2009 with only 17000 miles. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Question

Just got my first max sv + premium. I'm Happy \m/

This is my first car, need some tips to take care of it .

Is it good to put on a chip protector?. Dealer quoted me 1000$ bucks, It covers front hood, fenders and door sills. Should I take it?

In general how to protect the back bumper of the car, I already see a chip . The chip protector is not placed on the back.

How to protect wheels, should I buy the wheels protection package or there are other ways to save the RIMS.

Thanks.

I'm trying to figure out the sound coming out of all the speakers. Seem like the speakers along the windshield are mid-high range, front doors are mid range, back doors are mid-high range, and the two on the back deck are subs. Is that what others are hearing? I was really quite surprised in the diversity of the speakers.

BTW - In general, this speaker system is the low point of this car. I just can't get it to sound right.
