Well the Max advance you can do on the Idle settings is only 250RPMS, that isn't a big deal and it won't hurt the engine because it is within the normal range but Nissan makes it lower on OEM settings to keep the car quiet and to save on fuel.

Update on the BD Calibration Code:

This is no more than the Part Number of the BD Unit itself and you can get it by doing the following:

Ok when you plug the unit it it should come to the main menu, when you goto settings and press Y it should tell you what settings you have installed. From that screen you hit the right arrow key one time it should take you to another screen. It should be listed under part number or calibration.

If you guys who have a BD Unit want to, please PM me with your Calibration Code, First and Last Name and I will pass it on the Tech that's working with me after I get my BETA Programming install and I let you know if it works.

Hit me up guys, I'm getting excited (maybe Prematurely).

To ANNINO: I told you those guys were just trying to scare you.

I searched for it and came across this place.

Bully Dog Parts.com

Looks reputable and had the best price I could find without going to a shady site.

Ok new update

i did the timing advance
+2
also seems like you can go more than 2 but might be risky
car seemed alot more alive
but the gas mileage suffered alot
logging like 15-17mpgs even easy driving lol reminded me of my G35c

so i took it all off and went with the econo tune
see how that works

still seems like you gotta be really pushing the car
to see the differences with the prem tune

I bought this car with the intention to take it easy lol

The gas mileage will suffer more on these cars the minute you get on it hard but you're right it does suffer a little bit more. When I stand on my accelerator I will only avg 19 mpg but as long as I'm not kickin it into high gear hard and for extended periods of time then my mileage is still about 23 in the city.

The BD isn't for those who don't want performance unless you are strictly looking for the economy then it can be programmed for that role as well.

I prefer performance every now and again but I use the economy mode for long trips, I averaged 36mpg on my last trip

I probably could've did even better had I not got on the accelerator hard when I got really bored or a bit sleepy.

36 mpg? That's awesome, I bought it for performance I didn't even think of the flexibility it has with economy / gas mileage too. I am so glad I made that order... Shipped out tonight, should be here Tuesday.

Did anybody get the new BD update for our 09 Max? If so is there any difference? I'm asking because I'm temporarily away from my Max and will have somebody update my current version to the new one if there's positive feedback. Thanx

Ok, got the BD today () and just loaded up the Premium tune. I have a couple questions:
First, BK I pm'd you with my info, I hope its the right stuff. Thanks for doin that for me.
Second, I loaded up the premium tune and thats basically it. I rarely go over 90 so I have no need to modify the governer, and rev limiter I wasn't sure of so I left it. I want to test this setting out to get a feel for it before I advance the timing +2. When I went under "Current Settings" or whatever, it said:
WOT: N/A (obviously we know why)
Target Timing: -2

Is that what Nissan sets the car at? Why would it be set at -2? I just want to make sure this is normal and I didn't miss a major step. Thanks alot.

It's normal (-2), I posed the same question when I did mine. I assure you, you will not fell a major difference until you advance the timing +2. Let us know your thoughts!

Thanks, I just backtracked and found that post. My bad.
My first drive with the BD was this morning, and I can notice a small improvement right off the bat. I have not adjusted timing or Rev limit but I will advance +2 and adjust to 6500 this afternoon after work. Here's what I think so far:
Normal driving - no diff (obv)
Pedal to the stopper thing- Significantly faster after 40.. like the car all of a sudden says "Oh, did you want some fast?"
Pedal to the actual floor- a bit faster from stop, and once you hit 35-40 forget it. Hauls a**.
Bottom line- I'm impressed with this first 18 min showing and I can't wait to tweak it some more.
So have we determined that advancing the timing +2 wont hurt the engine as long as you use Premium fuel?
Also, what is the "econo" setting that you can get 36MPG out of? I'm going on a loooong trip next weekend and def wana program that in.

Advancing +2 will not hurt or push the engine. As long as you have no trouble starting and no knocking when you put your foot into it, you will be ok. I do not experience any issues with mine. No reason to set rpm's, it will not got pass 6200. this is another issue BD needs to fix. Also, no need to raise the idle, at least over here in south Louisiana. I did adjust the speed limiter to 165mph. I got it up to 125 yesterday but had to back off for up coming vehs. I did not want to endanger anyone around me while doing my "speed" test.

Let me make this clear, there is no setting that will give you 36mpg. Your mpg is determined on the way you drive (too fast=crappy mpg, slower is better) how much weight you are hauling, tire pressure, weather/windspeed and road conditions.

My trip was no more than 3 hours and I didn't break over 60, plus I only had one bag that was very light and I drove the entire trip using manual mode-my tire pressure was fine and the weather was absolutely perfect for that time of the day after 9pm the outside Temp was 80 and by the time I arrived it was 78 with little to no wind-the roads were mostly flat and I didn't get on the gas hard ever. Almost forgot that I used 93 with an Octane Booster to help out a bit.

I wish I had taken pictures of a video or something but my sole purpose of that trip was to gauge the gas mileage and see if the Economy Mode was a true benefit. Obviously I won't be making many more trips at 60 (too darn slow) but I did prove to myself that the Eco Mode does get you higher gas mileage.

I guess that anyone even with a BD on Econ Mode can get a significantly higher gas mileage than what is advertised for our cars if they drive the car the way I did. I suffered because that 1 and 35 minute trip took 3 hours but it was an experience worth proving that I'll never do again.

Its simple, you will plug it in under the steering wheel area, download the settings and unplug. Then you are done, just follow the good instructions that come with it. Remember to make sure that your headlights or any other accessory is unplugged or turned of. I sat there for 30min and it would not download , then I realized my headlights were on. It was late in the evening and they were set to "auto". Anyway, make sure everything is off.

Thats about it!

I can get it past 6200 RPM anytime, last weekend I was playing around and hit the rev limiter however I didn't see what RPM that was. Here is a snap well over 6200 RPM accelerating at the track.

Here's how it works - You plug in the unit and download the 'program' to the ECU. Then you unplug it. You plug it back in whenever you want to CHANGE what you already have in there, i.e. from performance mode to economy mode. Any other time my BD stays in its nice plastic case. I think you got the one with all the gages and stuff right? I think if you want to use the 'driving coach' and/or real time feedback then yes you need it plugged in, but for just 'chipping' the ECU you only need it plugged in when you first change settings. Hope that makes sense I got pretty wordy.

I believe the stock rev limiter is at 6750, at least thats what the BD said in my settings menu. I can reach that at times too under heavy acceleration. It doesn't stay stuck there, but it hits it.

Mannnn that's just wrong, mine stops at 6200 or shifts at 6200 regardless. Can yall advised in what mode y'all using to hit it. M, D or Ds????
But then again not knowing where the power band stops, it may not be doing any good to go that high.

I very rarely use anything but D, unless I have the urge to "shift" myself, or pop into Ds briefly for the downshift. It also only happens when I push the pedal all the way to the floor, past that stop point thing (what the heck is the purpose of that anyway?). I will double check tomorrow with Ds and M mode, I can't recall if it happens in those modes too or not.

I hear ya, but what specific settings do you use to get at least "better" gas mileage. I would guess that it is the "regular" setting, but did you tweak anything else? Keep the timing advanced? etc. Thanks for the input.
Also, I advanced the timing on mine and holy sh**!. That made a huge difference. I feel like the car has massive ***** that the Nissan tried to hide away. And if the WOT gov. is removed this car is going to absolutely FLY.

Ok, I did a few quick tests on the way to work this morning, but it was raining so I couldn't really push it. Without a doubt I get to 6750 in M mode. D mode goes to 6200 and Ds went over 6200, but not quite 6750... more like 6500. But I was running out of acceptable cop-free, acceleration-friendly roads so I only got to try Ds once.

thats interesting that Ds mode revs higher than regular D mode. So now from a standing 0-60 start, Ds mode should give better times than?

Perhaps, but I can't help but wonder why D would be faster. I'm thinking its because in D mode the RPMs tend to hover around a very specific range... I'm thinking that's the sweet-spot and when you venture out of it in Ds or M mode that's why you get slower times?

Got my Triple Dog Gt yesterday and installed it sometime around 530pm. Got a chance to get on the expressway and man this thing pulls very hard, I was able to get it to 110mph and had to slow down because of busy traffic. Haven't really had a chance to see how it does in the lowerrange but so far so good. I did the +2 on timing 165mph and on Premium. Will test it a little more if possible today. The triple dog gt has a really cool display and looks of great quality. I will keep my info posted as the days go by.

I'm going to shoot an email to Tim and ask for an update on the progress (or lack thereof) on the BETA program they are supposedly working on.

I'll get back to you all later when I get a response.

Thanks

My triple gt won't work with the Agent to get an update, looks like i'm going to have to call. would like to hook this up to my qx56 as well.

UPDATE
Just found out that the update for the Triple dog gt is not out yet, therefor since the update is current then it doesn't show up on the Agent. But they said soon the update will be out right now is on beta v.1.23 or higher.
