I did the exact same thing as you. The wires are already exactly where they need to be.

Yes, you have to go to Nissan and order the SV stalk assembly. Even better, to install it, the steering column has to come apart (remove the air bag, steering wheel, column cover) then the assembly pops out and the new one is put in. I had Nissan do it, came to ~$100. I don't f#ck around with airbags. Then add on the assembly piece which is ~$50.

SV steering column combo switch, I called it the assembly as it comes in one piece. what you called it is likely more accurate.

Is this the right KID conversion kit to go from standard bulbs to HID bulbs on a 2010?

http://www.vvme.com/digital-slim-h8h...cPath=44_45_24

Does this kit plug directly into the OEM headlight harness or is some soldering required or other modification required?

Also, I'm curious about the mentions of operating the lights via a relay. I assume the relay is energized by the OEM headlight wiring and main power is provided direct from the battery via a fused wiring harness using this method. I've seen some mention a "relay harness" to accomplish this. Can someone post a link to this relay harness product?

Nevermind, it appears that www.vvme.com sells a relay harness.

Someone should post a separate DIY for this. I'd do it but I don't have enough posts yet. Perhaps I'll have enough by the time I get my kit and do the installation.

since you have a 7thGen, good conversion kits are plug n' play. no special wiring or soldering. My kit (Xenith Xenon) came with these wiring and I cut them away and used the parts that I needed.

thanks k757.

Has anyone experienced any flickering?

Also,

How many have used relay harnesses and how many haven't?

Not on the Max but on my Jeep I did and i am still using the same kit just ordered new bulbs to fit the Maxima. I would just have the ballast replaced under warranty.

Fog Lights Revisited

I know the fog light topic has been discussed previously, but i'm curious if anyone has discovered any new HID or HID-like fogs that are similar to the HID headlights for the 09?

Feel free to post pics!

Hey deuce....I had purchased the blue overlays from lamin-x(they are applied to the front of the fog light lenses)...about $20 shipped and it changes the yellowish color of the fogs on my 5.5 gen to the HID like output color of the headlights...not a perfect match but pretty close (I had also changed the HID bulbs in my headlights a year ago to 8000K color temperature)....I like it...but getting new projector foglights in the mail soon...I think these overlays are re-usable...if so I will transfer them and let you know how they match up..

I haven't been paying attention to the color of the fogs on the 7th gens...are they yellow tinted as well?

I installed 6000k's in both headlight and fogs. The projector actually changes the output to a slight yellow and the clear fog lens shines pure white. I am very intrested in getting projectors for the fogs. I am also looking at installing 4300k in the wifes fog lights to see what happens.

Where are you guys buying your replacement HID bulbs at for the headlights? I ordered a set on DDMTuning.com and I called the dealership to see if the could install them (I was lazy) and they said they wouldn't because the bulbs were rated at 35w to 55w and anything lower than the factory draw will melt the housing apparently.

are you 100% sure that you are not touching the bulbs (or the bulbs touching anything) when you install them?
Do you wipe the bulbs really well with an alcohol pad?
are you leaving the lights in the ON position when you are starting your car?

I have been buying my HID's on ebAY. They are as good as there price so I am very happy. I remember when I used to sell them for $2500 installed. YES $2500 back in the late 90's when they had just come on the market. 9 out of 10 HID's are made by the same factory and redistributed under different labels, just open them up and you will see. If you look on ebay I get the 39.99 type special including shipping. Be mindful to purchase an additional set for back up as I do. They are now switching harnesses so they will not be interchangeable. Good luck.

I just put 6Ks in top and bottom and I think they match perfect. I'm am no expert of color preference, just the electrical aspect of things...
With the color matching it is best to stand back 100 or so feet to compair top and bottom or see how they reflect from the drivers seat. The way the d2s projector works (I am trying to find a picture) is it bends the light like a prism to focus all the light in a small area. Unless you are looking in that area the lights color will look a little different. I upgraded the fogs first and everyone was asking me why I had HIDs in the fogs and not the headlights. They were both HIDs and it was clear if you bent down to get it the projectors path but otherwise they appeared more yellowish. That's when I quickly ordered some $17 6k HID bulbs of eBay to swap out. The color match is perfect I think.(I will post a pic here soon). The fogs look much brighter standing right in front of the car because the light is spread out in such a wide are. If you back away 100 feet or so and get into the path of the projector lens it is obvious how much brighter the headlights are due to the projectors concentrating them into a more narrow area. I have thought about looking for projector lenses for the fogs. I wonder how it would look and if you could aim them toward the ground area where they belong. I really hate how the fogs turn off with the high beams though!!!

Did I mention ebay HIDs
I purchased all of mine from eBay... I hate waiting but it's the way to go. Be very careful and take your time... The bulbs have a slot in the plastic that aligns with the housing. If they are not in the right way they will not shine as bright. Post your pics when you get it all done... It was hard for me to fit between the sport model 19" rims and the finder but I managed. I was going for the whitest possible lights with as little yellow or blue as possible. IMO it looks the most rich without looking annoying. I want to try the 5k's but they are a little harder to find than the others. I haven't searched in a while though. Overall I am very happy with the 6ks though.

If anyone needs the vendor I use I will PM to you not sure what the rule is on posting links to sellers. I have updated my garage with some pictures nothing fancy but there they are. I also added a possible projector that could be used to convert the Max fogs.

I want to try to get something similar to these that are Ford OEM for the fogs but I am lazy and after installing 4 ballast and wiring for the current HID's I dont look forward to being under the car anytime soon, unless its on a lift. For those who like to try things out like I said they are from the Ford line Fusion I think they were I found them on ebay.

What about just replacing the stock bulbs with this type. I know they are not HID but at least it elimates the yellow color.

A little late chiming in here, but I got mine through VVME.com. I have no complaints, I had a ballast that failed and they sent me a new one free of charge. I had to send the faulty one back to China though, lol. Good prices and from what I can see, a good reliable product and good service.

I had to create my own H11 harness for the kits to be truly plug-n-play, but overall it was pretty cheap.

That's reason I purchased mine from a US based seller. I normally order on Thursday because that way I have them by Wednesday of the following leaving plenty of time to plan. My kits are plug and play. The only modification is placement which I take pride in because this way the car appears stock under the hood with no visible wires or straps. I will provide the name of the sellers I have used as soon as I get to pc.

I peeped this item a while ago. If you have stock HID headlights and you are looking for an exact color match for the fogs, this isn't your item. From what I have read in other posts, the stock HID color temperature is 4300K. That being said, those 5900K Fog bulbs would have a much whiter output compared to the HID headlights. Looks like to match even closely, we need to find 4300K H11 Fog Bulbs.

I personally am not looking to change ballasts, projectors or install an HID package for the fogs. I just want to get new bulbs and replace the crappy looking stock halogens. Anyone who finds a decent brand of 4300K H11s, or if you have a recommendation, please post a link. Much appreciated.

If you want to match the OEM Hid's you will need to add ballast and Hid bulbs. Total cost is $40 bucks and the same amount of time to take and replace your current bulbs. Have you looked at Sylvania's website. They have a few that are just bulbs and are pretty good. The only thing is I used to swear by their Siverstar bulbs until I realized that $50 a pair and one burnt bulb evrey 3 months was not worth it. I found my first pair of Hid's for $125 and thought it was a steal considering what they were 10 years ago. Now for $40 you can get the same thing. I would suggest HID's and a few minutes of your time.

PS If you buy whats in the link you will most likely burn down your car with them running at 55W all the time. 2Cents

As I've mentioned before you're not going to get any closer to the stock HID color than the Sliverstar H11 fog light bulbs. I tried a few different brands and the Silverstars are almost perfect. I've had mine in for 4 months and no issues, just don't touch the bulb itself.

trust me, no need for the 55w. I wouldnt risk the extra heat. 2Cents

You are not going to find an exact match without HIDs in the fogs. It's super easy to do and the time in minimal. At a 100ft distance the Headlights and fogs would be a clear diff. The stock HIDs are 4300 and if you search long enough you can find some 4300 for your fogs. It was just too yellow out of the projector for me. Highly sugg the 5000 or 6000.

Does anyone have 5000 installed??

My concerns with the HID fogs is that they will appear to be brighter than the HID headlights to oncoming drivers because Nissan didn't give us projector fog lights. The reflective fog light housings have to be throwing light all over the place, including in the oncoming drivers' eyes. I get flashed enough as it is with the stock HID's. If this isn't the case then let me know and I wouldn't hesitiate to put some 5000k HID fogs in there. How much visibility do the HID fogs add from sitting in the driver's seat? Have you driven in the fog with them yet? If so are they better or worse than halogen?
